The mayor has expressed concern that Rancho Santa Fe (southeast of La Costa) could be next but much of the area near my house saw fire in more recent years past so I'm not concerned for my personal risk ... this time.Thank you for the prayers and update. It seems as though prayers are our best hope right now.

There are fires currently in Julian (Mountains East of San Diego), Lakeside (base of mountains east of San Diego), Scripps Ranch, North of San diego(HUGE-has closed several freeways), Camp Pendleton (still burning big), Just North of Camp Pendleton in San Clemente one started REAL fast, that was two hours ago and has prolly burned down the houses it was rapidly approaching, Simi Valley-San Fernando Valley fires. Rapidly approaching the freeway north of my place now. I traveled from Chula Vista to the San fernando valley earlier and there are MANY fires to see.

My brother called about a half hour ago, its grim, he expects to lose the house, the whole neighborhood is engulfed. He is staying with a friend, they have all the kids and dogs accounted for, and he has a huge insurance policy on the house. But damn, its a beautiful house and a great neighborhood.

Off the top of your head, does anyone know if the area of Bonita, CA is threatened?
To: oc-flyfish
Me too!!

I am suspicious of the new fires breaking out. I think there are arsonists...whether al Quaeda, ELF, or random nutballs.
It is my opinion that thee should be a curfew on all, unless they are evacuating. Otherwise, this could go on for days.
Continued prayers for those who are dealing with the fires.

There was a fire south-east of there earlier this morning. I can imagine that is is still burning there.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

Bonita is in the south bay area. Haven't heard any fire close to the area, yet!
To: CyberAnt
Can someone tell me what the latest numbers are out of the local media out there? Number of houses lost? Number of people killed?
Also...
Are these the worst fires in a populated area in California in the past ? years? Any number on that?
To: Miss Marple
I agree about the nutbnalls starting fires. We are up against brush that hasn't burned in 30 years. I am just watching the hill waiting for exactly that- a nut case arsonist starting a fire here.
