Gee ... FOX just interupted a Holloywood fluff piece with a news alert on CA fires ... for a moment there I thought Babs's house caught fire. /sarc.

Weren't we supposed to hear from Gov Davis at 2pm?
To: onyx
You and I were awfully lucky, onyx.
Maybe that's why we're such happy, cheerful people - not like those other folks. ROFL. ;-)

It doesn't seem reasonable that a CCNR would keep people from getting fire-resistant roofs; I think the resident may not have had all the facts.
Now I can believe that there may be a disagreement about what type/color/style of simulated shake roofs.
Whatever the case, the reporter noticed that the more shingle shake roofed houses were burning than other types.

On west side of 805? Between which streets or blvds?

My brother and his family had to evacuate today. They are near Miramar in Scripps Ranch near Pomorado Road. Great neighborhood, hope everything is ok.
I wish I was at Point Loma Seafoods with a big crab sandwich..mmmmm

My mom is a retired Holiday Inn employee - we get a fantastic discount. We plan to head toward the coast and get a Holiday Inn room near where I work. Family is all notified. I have a cell phone. We'll be fine for even a couple of weeks.
To: Central Scrutiniser
They are now reporting and calling this the largest mobilization of firefighters in California history...

They didn't say and I've lost feed from the station, trying to get back on.

Whatever the case, the reporter noticed that the more shingle shake roofed houses were burning than other types I'll add that the "reporter" made a keen observation.
That's why shake Re-roofs were outlawed 15+ years ago.
To: Central Scrutiniser
If your brother's house is shake shingled, commence praying.

Prayers for all those fighting these fires - firefighters and residents alike. My younger sister and her family live on Via Los Farolitos in Rancho Santa Fe. We've been calling and just get their answering machine. My mother, who lives with me, and I are get a little worried. Does anyone know if this area is in danger? Thank you for this thread and any and all updates.
