I don’t believe “God Hates” should ever be used as a message when trying to rally the people together, but at least these guys had enough respect to separate themselves from the other groups.

I can understand their sentiment and have to wonder if anyone who believes that sign is unacceptable because it alienates “regular’ Americans would also understand how using the catch phrase “Support President Bush” also serves to alienate people.

I can only speak of my experiences here in South Florida but I can tell you the Republican Party has alienated a wide segment of our population by turning the SOT rallies into Republican conventions and raising their idol to a position above the cause of supporting the troops.

If their intent is really to gain support for the troops why do they insist on slapping Libertarians and Constitutionalist in the face with their Republican propaganda?

This tactic literally places the independent between a rock and a hard place, while they oppose the implications of the Patriot Act they can not bring themselves to stand with the socialists of the A.N.S.W.E.R. group. And while they know themselves to be patriotic they can not endorse what they perceive as fascism within the Republican Party.

The guys with the “God Hates” sign separated the issues and in my opinion were able to voice their concerns in more acceptable manner than the ideological Republicans who have hi-jacked the SOT rallies.

So Rob, who do you think is going to need the abestos suit?

Agreed. Bob Dornan is (R), but he kept his comments on supporting our troops, and mentioned the (D) candidates as regards their obvious and vehement attack on US policy in Iraq, and how that serves to embolden the Saddam loyalists and Islamist terrorists and demoralizes our troops. HE also mentioned that if the war had happened on Clinton's watch - they'd be big supporters.

Also, Curtis Sliwa gave the "conservative politicians" a piece of his mind because they don't come out to these rallies - because they aren't going to be huge events. That kind of makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy, sadly.

But we were there. All "few dozen" of us. If we had not been out on the streets, the cANSWER commies would have had the playing field all to themselves. We won't give the bast#rds that satisfaction.

Since the DC Chapter doesn't have an "in" with the (R) bigwigs, there's no danger of us turning our rallies into (R) conventions.
