TAMPA - The American Civil Liberties Union is joining Terri Schiavo's husband in seeking to overturn the new law which allowed Gov. Jeb Bush to intervene in the contentious right-to-die case, an ACLU official said Friday.
Simon said it wasn't until Bush and the Legislature's unprecedented action this week did the ACLU decide to join Michael Schiavo's side. "Once the governor thinks it is the proper role of the Legislature and he to set aside the judgment of the courts, that requires us to get the courts to declare that is just unconstitutional," he said

I think you should send some of the material on this site to Larry King:

He may be a big pro death liberal but he also knows that a good scandal helps keep the TV ratings up. (Kobe is a good example of this.) And if this doesn't qualify than I don't know what does.

It must be terrifying for the ACLU to contemplate that mere elected officials can interfere with the decrees of the black robed dictators.

So, the commie lawyers are going to attack a helpless, brain-damaged woman who has already been the victim of three earlier attempts to murder her, and help finish her off.

I have a living will, but I intend to change it, for when I had it made, I did not know that any hospital would with hold food and water from a person until it caused his death.
God forbid! I would never want that!

You are smart to reexamine your living will. Terri's suffering is opening eyes all over the country.
The "right to die" crowd, death culture, bioethics, euthanasia movement -- whatever we want to call them -- have become a cancer in American medicine and especially in facilities for disabled persons and seniors. By talking about the quality of life instead of defending the sanctity of life, they open the door legally to kill anyone who's weak or sick or unwanted or inconvenient. In this way, they are creating a nation-wide death camp for old folks and disabled people of all ages.
The Nazis killed their victims with a poison gas, Zyklon B. At least it was all over in minutes. In this country the death culture, represented in this case by George Felos, Michael Schiavo and Judge Greer, conspire to exterminate a helpless woman by the slow, cruel torture of dehydration and starvation.
If Terri dies, nobody is safe. Nobody.

Most folks here know that, most folks generally don't.
Terri's expendible in ACLU's fight to rid us of those bothersome checks and balances. We can then progress further, faster. It's a progressive POV.
This'll be a test of the socialist de-education of folks: millions will rant about how the supreme court overturned perfectly sound legal, historical precident...dating all the way back to...well, everybody knows the courts have always had the final say! I mean, what kind of chaos would ensue if everybody thought they had the final say about what's right and wrong, what laws are constitutional, and such! Oh...the humanity.

The problem is that most Americans THINK that courts make decisions where there is no clear legal precedent.. it is the role of the LEGISLATURE and the EXECUTIVE branch to make/change the law... The courts exist for the purpose of applying the law to specific cases which are brought before them period.....

and he to set aside the judgment of the courts, that requires us to get the courts to declare that is just unconstitutional," he saidThis is what scares the crap out of the ACLU. They are worried a judgement can't not be upheld by being usurped or declared unrighteous by a LIBERAL/SOCIALIST judge.
It is, and has been the ONLY way these scumbags can win anything, by the courts legislating the liberal agenda and usurping certain laws. No way they would ever win if judges started interpreting the law.

Does the ACLU get gov. funding?
To: davidosborne
You are correct but try to tell that to Longcut.
The courts get their authority from the Legislature.

Well there you have it. The ACLU has not met a conservative executive, legislature, or court it didn't despise.

For some reason, I am on the mailing list for the ACLU. The first plea for donations that I received from them, I sent back after writing on it, "There is no way I can support an anti-freedom organization like the ACLU. Please remove me from your mailing list."
Since I'm still on their mailing list, now I stuff their business reply envelope with mailings from various Republican organizations, Judicial Watch, etc. (making sure nothing with my name or address is there) and send them back. I know, the postage they have to pay on that isn't even a drop in the bucket, but I do get a little bit of satisfaction out of it.
