The Origin of Zot found
Posted on 10/25/2003 9:45:35 PM PDT by Malsua
I was a CIS Wizop in the mid 90s after being a BBS user and boardop in the 80s...but one thing I've done as I upgraded my hard disks was to keep the entire contents of my old drives on the latest and greatest drive purchased.
This particular image was dated on my drive as from 10-17-1995. I don't have any clue as to where it came from but it's just as relevent today, heh.
Worth a chuckle anyway :)

I thought the origin came from that old Tom Posten movie from the '60s.

Yes, I realize the origin of Zot on FR.
My ZOT is older than your Zot. Lol.
I'm not trying to detract anything from FR, just showing an older usage of ZOT that existed before FR.

I always thought that ZOT originated with the "Wizard of Id" and became popularized by "B.C."
I think the "Wizard of Id" started back in the '60s. Back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth... ;)

I remember that, he pointed his finger at a fly, said ZOT, and it dropped right out of the air.
Very likely the first Zot, I agree.

Well, there it is.
It started in the 60s. I posted this in Misc as it was "entertaining". Heh. I imagine when the first Trex ate the first Bronto the bronto was screaming "He's zoting me!"

I can appreciate it. Thanks, this is for those who will ask, what about the history of Zot on FR?
To: M Kehoe
shhhhhh, it's a secret.
To: Admin Moderator
It's too late, and I'm thinking business...does FR have to TM or copyright the "Zot" before the NYT gets ahold of it?
I'm up too late this evening...the Yankees lost the WS, and all is not right in the world...8^(

Did you ever see the movie Zot? T
om Posten played a university professor who discovered an Egyptian relic in his back yard. Painted on the relic was an ancient incantation that bestowed upon the sayer the power to kill merely by pointing at someone and saying the secret word, Zot.
