It is his decision. It is way so not yours or anyone elses.
I'm sure the court will strike down the Florida law.

Yes. My hackles raise about sky high at Felos. Ever read the two Peretti Christian novels, one of them "This Present Darkness" and the other with a similar title. Felos could have stepped right out of their pages.

"Why are you so willing to let this man proceed with making Terri's decision for her"
You guys seem more than willing to cede that responsibilities to anyone OTHER than her legal husband(and like him or not, they are still legally married).

Because it is his right to do so.She cannot make decisions because she is incapacitated, so he makes them in her stead. No different than if it was you in that bed.

Funny how you guys seem to forget these things.

I'd bet that way about the SCOFLAw too, but not because it would be a right thing to do. The SCOFLAw reasons like (as another freeper I can't remember put it) rabid chimpanzees on acid. Maybe I should take that back -- it would be insulting to rabid chimpanzees on acid.

I'm not even sure what to ask for. Amen.

Thy will be done, hopefully thy will including truth, life, and justice for Terri.

Frankly, I'm praying that she will at least make an obvious, dramatic improvement confounding those who want her dead. I may not get what I ask for, but I dare to ask for it.

I think there should be some circumscribing of the guardian's powers in the absence of a clear legal declaration by the ward. After all, I could choose to go jump off the Brooklyn Bridge, but I wouldn't want a guardian to assume that he can toss me off the same bridge.

The Supreme Court of Florida's reasoning is worse than that of rabid chimpanzees on acid. Clear enough gringo?

If you were in the same state as that lady, you wouldn't even know you were being thrown off of a bridge.

I doubt the Florida Legistlatures thinking is much clearer either.

Just as an aside, if if if something was done to Terri, my experience might shed some light. My ex-husband tried to strangle me back in the late 60's or early 70's, and I was outraged, but I never called law enforcement on him nor did I tell my parents. You don't like to admit you have made a mistake in your marriage because too much is at stake until you are ready and able to face it. Women used to take abuse and keep quiet about it.

She's right at the fuzzy edge of what we don't fully understand about mind and brain and consciousness. I would hate to see her lost, not just for God's sake but also for science's sake. She may yet have a real story to tell.

No one has the right to murder an innocent person. He isn't, as she says, "letting her die", She wasn't/isn't dying. Terri is conscious, living, breathing, responsive, and she has the right to live and be with the people who DO care about her and want to take care of her.

Yes, but I would hope that if treatment such as Terri is or is not getting came to light, that there would be people that would get up in arms about it - same as we are doing.

Terri is being systemically murdered. The fact that you want to ignore the absolute facts of her handling and say -"well, he is within his rights", shows that you are willing to ignore injustice, murder or whatever as long as there is a law that can be used as cover.

Well - I would hope - that if someone was trying to murder me, to get me out of the way for money, or whatever and I was unable to defend myself, that someone would look at facts and speak up for me.

Murderers have wives too.

You got that right, Aliska. That stuff happens every day. As a matter of fact, even if Terri's family didn't hear about any abuse, it was reported that she told her siblings that she desperately wanted a divorce from Michael. That speaks volumes.

We have more of this to look forward to if the demoncrats ever manage to take over the other branches of government as they have the judiciary. Doesn't anyone remember Hitler? This is state sponsered murder, nothing less. Who will be next. This is only another sad chapter in the legalization of murder.

You have all done wonderful things to help. All of you are in my prayers along with the Schindler family. God Bless you all.

~~~~~
We are told that Terri Schindler Schiavo’s rights are the central issue -- her “right to die” as she had supposedly told her husband/guardian in casual conversation. But in fact, Ms. Schiavo has NOT had a true advocate to ensure that her rights and interests as a disabled individual are considered, and that should be everyone’s concern.
Ms. Schiavo is not in a coma. Video footage clearly shows her responding to her mother’s attentions. She breathes without any artificial means, wakes and sleeps, and vocalizes with intention according to affidavits filed by her care givers. This is despite having had no rehabilitation at all over the years. The conclusion of physicians who have examined her, including a Jacksonville neurologist, is that she is not in a persistent vegetative state.
The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons(AAPS) noted in a statement on 10/22/03, “Some physicians believe that Terri could be rehabilitated to some extent, at least so that she would be able to swallow oral feedings and eliminate the need for the [gastrostomy] tube. She should be allowed to try, but so far her husband has blocked every attempt to see if she can swallow.”
Ms. Schiavo collapsed in 1991 under suspicious circumstances. Her husband did not immediately call 911 (rather, he called her father), nor did he attempt to resuscitate her. Her collapse was not shown to be due to a ‘heart attack’. Dr. Michael Baden, renowned forensic pathologist, examined medical records from the time of her initial injury and concluded on 10/24/03 that 1) heart attack was quite unlikely and 2) bone scan done at that time shows a head injury and other bone injuries due to trauma of some sort, which should have been further investigated.
There are questions: Why has Michael Schiavo, Ms. Schiavo’s husband and guardian, denied her rehabilitation that would test her abilities and might allow her feeding tube to be discontinued? Why was she not allowed to take last rites last Saturday when she was expected to die? And finally, Why does Mr. Schiavo not simply renounce guardianship to her parents? That action would allow him to put this painful episode behind him and to go on with his new life with his fiancee and their children.
A guardian who is without conflict of interest must immediately be appointed to Ms. Schiavo. In the event of Ms. Schiavo’s death, the prosecutor should investigate it as a suspicious traumatic death, and the medical examiner should launch an investigation including a full autopsy.
Many websites, including http://www.terrisfight.org, contain information such as the AAPS letter and affidavits for those wanting to know more.
We love you, Terri. We're thinking of you, praying for you, getting the facts out.
One of many prayers just completed. Forwarded the information and request to my email group. Will be emailing and calling on her behalf as well. I am copying/pasting your info below again for those who may have missed it:
Ok then---I am going down on my knees momentarily to pray just that.
And because I know we are called into action, and because I know that we often never know exactly which email, phone call, protest, whatever impacts a situation, I am asking everyone who cares passionately about Terri to email larry king live and request that he balance Shiavo's visit with the other side of this story...that he ask direct and forceful questions of Michael that are backed up with information we have sent to Larry, etc.
Larry's email is:
Larry.King.Live3@turner.com
Please do this. We need to swamp his email so that this gets attention.
Do this for Terri.
