Bush Issues Ramadan Statement
VOA News ^ | October 25, 2003

Posted on 10/25/2003 5:21:58 AM PDT by sarcasm

The White House has issued President Bush's annual greeting to Muslims around the world who will observe the holy month of Ramadan.

In his message, President Bush says Islam is a peaceful religion that has helped shape the character of the United States, and has made great contributions to the world.

Mr. Bush said Americans cherish the freedom to worship and, he said, "we remain committed to welcoming individuals of all religions."

During Ramadan, President Bush said Muslims fast, pray, contemplate and renew their commitment to lead lives of honesty, integrity and compassion.

Can't help seeing what I see.

Sorry the truth offends you.

I hope refusing to see it doesn't get you and yours killed.

I would have to wonder what a young American soldier, who happens to be Muslim, would consider Christians having read this thread?

He'd probably consider Christians as a cult out to kill him.

"Can't help seeing what I see."

"Sorry the truth offends you."

It doesn't offend me at all since the TRUTH and what you are seeing are so different.

Duh. And those who serve loyally, and faithfully, have my support. Those who don't should die a traitors death.
You still haven't addressed the fact that as a GROUP muslims don't seem all that keen to defend the US. Statistically that 13,000 should be almost 40,000, based on their population. I guess you just keep ignoring that fact because it's inconvenient to you.

Or worse convert him. (Then his buds would be obligated to kill him)...

You obviously haven't read much about any of the MANY pograms of Jews in Christian Europe...

Of course I have.

You are proving my point. These pogroms were in complete violation of Christian Scripture. They were done either in ignorance of The Word or in obedience to mistaken temporal or ecclesiastical authority who were seeking other ends. They were an abberation, deserving the highest condemnation from a true Believer, and no doubt from The Lord.

Muslim Doctrine COMMANDs such murderous behavior in obedience to their twisted scriptures.

Subtleties seem to escape some people.
I don't care who fights next to me so long as I know they are Americans first.

The good muslims never need to wear their religions on their sleeve.

Any one who does, can get the hell away from me.

Oh yes, when Christians murder it's in violation of Holy Scripture, and being an Islamic Scholar of international standing you know for a fact that all Muslims must kill, period.

"And those who serve loyally, and faithfully, have my support."

And does that include your support for their Commander in Chief to send them and their families his best wishes during their holy season?

Then you would be in complete agreement with the Department of Defense, a lot of commanding officers and a lot of peers of Muslim American's in uniform.

The instinct to survive and be suspicious, based on a 'religion's' teachings to 'kill infidels', seem pretty natural to me. (Otherwise, they wouldn't be called instincts; they'd be called prejudices.) Nobody on this thread is quoting their 'religious' beliefs to kill Muslims, are they? If so, please point out the replies in this thread that do so. The Muslim soldier whom you provide as an example, if a devout, Koran-pounding Muslim, would instinctually be seen as a threat amongst the other 'infidel' soldiers.

Again, why isn't Bush obligated to give a statement for the Satanists, Wiccans, and Moonies? I have no doubt that there are Satanist soldiers, Wiccan soldiers, and Moonie soldiers. Aren't they every bit as worthy of a statement as the mohammedan soldiers?

Save your breath. Getting a straight, sensible response out of this loonie would be like getting a strong pledge of allegiance out of a Muslim resident of America.

And the Christian soldier next to him, if a devout skin head, Mein Kompf pounding Racists, would instinctually be seen as a threat amongst the Jewish, Muslim and black soldiers.

"...a strong pledge of allegiance out of a Muslim resident of America."

Or the oath of enlistment from 13,000 AMERICANS.

BTW, I also think the nation-building in Iraq is a worthwhile experiment, even though I think it's likely to fail as long as Islam remains deeply rooted there.

I detect a slight contradiction there Tooth. Your second point is the correct one. Islam and Democracy (any kind of self-determination) are mutually exclusive. In nearly every country where Islam reigns supreme the government invariably becomes folded in with " Sharia” Law—a (barbaric) set of Islamic laws that runs contrary to about every democratic principle. Turkey, the possible exception to this rule, nevertheless struggles mightily in barely making it work.

My prediction on Iraq is that we will get them off to a good start on the road to self-rule. It will appear to work for awhile....then the Wheels Will Come Off and they will be back to where they stared.

It's hard to understand the naivete some here have about Islam. And I have to wonder what it will take to finally shake our elected officials from their politically correct stupor. When our government CONTINUES to allow more than 200,000 M.E. Muslims to immigrate into America every year (incredibly despite 911) we are just asking for civil strife, conflict, and more terrorism in our future.

I can't think of anything that is more diametrically opposed with the Freedoms, Principles and Customs that America was founded on than Islam.

You're losing the plot, CWO. Hang in there. What you said is why the President doesn't warmly greet the KKK once a year, as Christianity doesn't preach Mein Kompf principles, right? Again, a definition of 'religion' would really help here, don't you think?

No, you lost your own plot. You asked a BS hypothetical and gave you a reply in kind and now you're scrambling to recover.

Whether I am an "Islamic Scholar of international standing" or not is immaterial. I can read and understand what they are saying in the Koran - and so can they, and what's more they act on it.

There are lots of good sources to study up on this if you have a mind to do so, rather than rant on about those who bring uncomfortable facts to your attention.

One very fine book on the subject is Islam Unveiled: Disturbing Questions About the World's Fastest Growing Faith, but there are others, and some have been cited in previous posts, such as by your good friend "Kozak" in Post #98.
