The White House has issued President Bush's annual greeting to Muslims around the world who will observe the holy month of Ramadan.
In his message, President Bush says Islam is a peaceful religion that has helped shape the character of the United States, and has made great contributions to the world.
Mr. Bush said Americans cherish the freedom to worship and, he said, "we remain committed to welcoming individuals of all religions."
During Ramadan, President Bush said Muslims fast, pray, contemplate and renew their commitment to lead lives of honesty, integrity and compassion.
Fortunately their military commanders think differently.
Yeah. I recall one of them who did .... it cost him a tent full of Americans.
Hardly anyone did. That's why the men of the 442nd were called "Japs" a lot...even though they become one of the most heavily decorated AMERICAN units in WWII. Not bad for some dirty "Japs".
And you are seriously radical.
To what do attribute your radicalism?
Your attempts at analogies are breathtakingly superficial and simple minded.
The 442nd Regimental Combat Team
The 442nd Regimental Combat Team is the MOST decorated unit in U.S. military history.
It was composed of mainland Japanese Americans and Japanese Americans from Hawaii. It is the 442nd that coined the motto "Go for Broke!" and upheld those words throughout their entire time of service in World War II.
The troops of the 442nd Regiment fought in eight major campaigns in Italy, France and Germany, including the battles at Belmont, Bruyeres and Biffontaine. At Biffontaine, the unit fought perhaps its most famous battle, the "Rescue of the Lost Battalion". In this bloody confrontation, the 442nd unit lost more than 800 troops to rescue 211 members of the Texan 1st Battalion of the 141st Regiment. There were also numerous accounts of individuals who displayed incredible valor while attempting to advance their positions and rescue wounded comrades.
In less than two years of combat, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team earned more than 18,000 individual decorations including one Medal of Honor, 53 Distinguished Service Crosses, 588 Silver Stars, 5,200 Bronze Star Medals, 9,486 Purple Hearts, and eight Presidential Unit Citations (the nation's top award for combat units).
Everyone should read about them...and how those dirty Japs were treated by other Americans.
Please define 'religion' for me. While you're at it, would you please compare a 'religious' person to a 'zealous' one? This little exercise might help reduce some of my confusion on this 'religion of peace' issue.
You are missing a big difference here.
"Christians" may have killed in the name of Jesus and God, but did so in direct violation of Biblical teachings if this was their true motive and not merely an excuse or false teaching, which is easily disproved by Scripture.
Islam kills in the name of Allah in direct obedience to the direct commands and teachings of Mohammed and Islam.
Islam converts by the bloody sword of the soldier, not by the peaceful persuasion of the Sword of the Holy Spirit.
One side murders as a required part of their religion, the other murders in spite of their religion.
Big difference.
It is no accident that for 14 centuries Islam has soaked the world with "bloody borders".
No thanks, but you may wish to see whether the Constitution "defines" religion.
HOLY!..... Theres nothing even remotely holy in islam...
The only thing holy in Islam is the ground where victims are buried..
It's apparent why you weren't front seat material
Real gentlemanly reply.
How about really answering the man's question?
