Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks for the blessings of this day ... parents who have seen monumental outpouring of support for their beloved child ... the labors of Terri's friends now appearing in legal documents that are reaching the highest offices ... people and organizations stepping forward who are not persuaded by the silky whisper of "right to die" ~ You are to be praised, Father ... continue to pour out wisdom and discernment upon the people, for this battle is for the soul of our beloved nation.

Prepare those who will speak tonight for this mother's child ... injured and unable to speak for herself. Her family will face any camera, and write any letter, and follow any lead, and will give their all because of this daughter .. because of this sister. How tender their love, O God ~ how great their resolve. May the words that come forth from Terri's family this night be graced with all truth and compassion ... bring viewers who normally would not watch. Let hearts be convicted because truth is spoken. Remove any obstacle from eyes and ears and hearts .. let the beauty of truth fall on fertile soil ... may it grow and blossom ... may there be a renewed commitment to the sanctity of life.

The forces of darkness are at work, Lord. This night another will speak ... the one who pledged to love and cherish and care for Terri ... the one who did not. I pray that You would confound and confuse his thoughts and his words ... may he stumble ... may he be incriminated by his own testimony. Let nothing that he might say ring true to the people, Lord ... let the interviewer be diligent to his task of asking pointed, clear and concise questions. Prepare his heart to receive allegiance to Terri and her right to live ... let him not fall under the spell of death with dignity.

Sustain this dear family, Lord ... tonight and all through the days and nights it will take before this mother's child is safe in the arms of her family. Make haste, O God, for there are those who would end her life right now, but Your word proclaims that in Your hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind. May you deem the time for Terri, and not man.

May Your mercy rest upon Terri's legal team and those who labor for her ... strengthen them and refresh them for the tasks ahead, for surely we contend for the soul of this nation ... but thanks be to You, O God, who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord ... in whose Name we pray, Amen ...

"Why shouldn't he have a house and a car?"

A $30,000 Mercedes? While his "wife" is laying up in a bed, denied contact with her family most of the time, being supported by Medicaid and he is shacked up with another woman and her illegitimate children. Oh, and I understand that there is another illegitimate child that was conceived during his marriage to Terri and BEFORE her trauma, that he has been paying child support on. By the way, adultery is against the law in the state of Florida. Also, according to Ethan_Allen's fine research into Florida statute, it seems that it is also grounds for disqualification of a guardian.

I am not making a judgement about your opinion, mind you. It is evident that you haven't followed this case as closely as some have, but I know that I d**n sure wouldn't want a man making life and death decisions for me who had all that in his agenda bio.

Amen and Amen Pegita.
You have put into writing what many others have been praying this day. May we be encouraged in the Lord.

Psa 118:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: because his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Psa 118:2 Let Israel now say, that his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Psa 118:3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Psa 118:4 Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Psa 118:5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, [and set me] in a large place.
Psa 118:6 The LORD [is] on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
Psa 118:7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see [my desire] upon them that hate me.
Psa 118:8 [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Psa 118:9 [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
Psa 118:10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
Psa 118:11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Psa 118:12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Psa 118:13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.
Psa 118:14 The LORD [is] my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
Psa 118:15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation [is] in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
Psa 118:16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
Psa 118:17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
Psa 118:18 The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.
Psa 118:19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, [and] I will praise the LORD:
Psa 118:20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
Psa 118:21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
Psa 118:22 The stone [which] the builders refused is become the head [stone] of the corner.
Psa 118:23 This is the LORD'S doing; it [is] marvellous in our eyes.
Psa 118:24 This [is] the day [which] the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psa 118:25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
Psa 118:26 Blessed [be] he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
Psa 118:27 God [is] the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, [even] unto the horns of the altar.
Psa 118:28 Thou [art] my God, and I will praise thee: [thou art] my God, I will exalt thee.
Psa 118:29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.

I hope larry doesnt tell mr schiavo of all his heart problems or he may get a court order to cut off kings food supply.

He's got some competition ...

Christopher Reeve IS on life support

..... pull that plug from his gullet and he would be dead in minutes. You can bet the bank that he isn't woofing down prime ribs either! He's on a feeding tube! Where's his voice in this matter .... hmmmmm ????

Man "finds" Wife unconscious.

Man keeps Wife unconscious.

Man gets malpractice money for Wife.

Man wants Wife's money.

Man wants Wife dead so Man can have money.

Man gets Lawyer.

Lawyer is/was Hospice Board Member.

Lawyer promises Man that Wife will die at the Hospice...

" His belief is that she's already dead. If he allowed last rites, he'd be admitting that she's still alive."

Well h*ll Hildy, if she's already dead, why doesn't he just go in her room and put a pillow over her face and be done with it? Shouldn't be any problem with that should there.....since she's already dead, and the courts seem to agree, at least so far, and it would certainly be a darn sight more merciful than starving and dehydrating her to death, don't you think?

I think, statistically, only about 15 percent of adult Americans have living wills.

A gastronomy tube is NOT life support!!! Nearly 1 million "living" people in the US have gastronomy tubes, including Superman!

In drafting a living will, who would say to their spouse, "Honey, if I am ever in what doctor's describe as a vegetative state, I would prefer to die this way:

Hastening Death by Starvation and Dehydration

by Faye Girsh, Executive Director
Hemlock Society USA

The option of dying by starvation or Patient Refusal of Nutrition and Hydration (PRNH), as it is referred to, appears to be a compromise which allows terminally ill people to end their lives and still have ministrations from hospice and from a doctor. A hospice nurse was kind enough to send me eight articles from nursing and medical journals reviewing this process in an attempt to convince me that this was a painless and gentle death which would obviate the necessity of a more drastic end.

Hemlock Society is in the business of maximizing the options for a good death; for many people this means of ending their lives is acceptable while getting direct help from a doctor, using a plastic bag, or ending their lives by other more direct means is not. Having read this material I would endorse this as a legitimate alternative to which our members should give careful consideration, particularly when other means are not acceptable or available. I do have these caveats:

The length of time it took for patients to die in these studies varies considerably depending on the fragility and weight of the patient, the state of his/her heart , etc., from several days to several weeks. Most of the reports of dying patients are within one or two weeks from dehydration.

After the first day a state called detonemia develops in which there are apparently severe hunger pangs (unless feeding is restored)

Not taking fluids appears to actually reduce a person's discomfort, bloating, nausea, lung secretions, urinary frequency and pain, and is a good idea at the end of life in any case.

This method may be difficult for family members -- and some medical personnel -- who may find it difficult not to provide food and fluids. A family may need help caring for the dying person.

Excellent oral hygiene must be maintained with ice chips to moisten the mouth, careful cleaning of the mouth, and lubricants. Skin becomes dry and inelastic so a soft mattress is helpful. Dizziness and weakness also occur.

Many of the patients described, including the mother of Dr. David Eddy, whose account in the Journal of the American Medical Association has become a classic, had asked for a hastened death and had been refused by the doctors and nurses on the grounds that it would constitute an assisted suicide and thus be morally, ethically and legally wrong. This method is seen as a preferable alternative to a lethal dose of medication from a physician.

Medical care is essential; most patients required morphine for pain and many received anti-anxiety agents. It would be essential to have medical and nursing support before embarking on this route.

PRNH is a choice; it is relatively gentle and painless in most reported cases. It is certain, and loved ones can be there. Hospice workers and doctors will regard this as acceptable and treat the patient with compassion. It is not offensive to most religious groups. But it is not swift; the patient must be close to death, and medical and nursing help should be available. It may not be an option for everyone.

Since the manner of dying must be the patient's choice, this method does not obviate the search for ways which are acceptable to every person -- including direct help from a doctor -- certainly a shorter, more direct, and less torturous route.

Fantastic effort regarding your post #285.

Terri's Army ping to bookmark PC's post #285 for future reference and also as a reminder that the LK show is on in 3 minutes, except on the west coast. Also, I guess the plan is to discuss the LK show tonight, and whatever comes up on Hannity and Colmes and Greta's show, on this thread. I have to work early in the morning, but iowamomforfreedom is going to put together a list of all the Terri threads with links, and tomorrow afternoon I will begin a daily thread for Terri updates and will include the list in the thread.

If you want on or off this list, please let me know.
