I think some of the price spike may be due to the Mad cow scare in Canada last year and the ban on importation of Canadian beef. I don't know if it still is in effect but it sure was several months age.

Who am I missing?

When I saw your post, I wondered what might have prompted such a reply. So, I looked at #13 (the post you replied to ;-). It says, "We've been talking about buying a calf and raising our own beef. This seems like a great time to do it."

Thus, in saying "Who am I missing," I thought perhaps you were wondering which of your family pets was on the dinner table.
