------------------------------------------- DREAM ACT PASSES SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE -------------------------------------------
This afternoon the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 16-3 to pass S. 1545, Senator Hatch's DREAM Act to grant in-state college tuition rates and amnesty to illegal aliens under the age of 21 who have been physically present in the country for five years and are in 7th grade or above.
The only three Senators on the committee who voted AGAINST the DREAM Act and represented the majority of Americans who oppose amnesty and other rewards for illegal aliens were:
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
Only one amendment was passed by the Judiciary Committee. All other amendments were overwhelmingly defeated. The amendment that did pass would make the DREAM Act marginally less disgusting, but it won't significantly decrease the number of illegal aliens who will be eligible for the amnesty.
--------------------- PHONE CALLS AND FAXES ----------------------
1. Our best hope of defeating this amnesty now rests with the Senate Leadership. We are asking you to call members of the Senate Leadership (phone numbers below) and ask them to oppose the DREAM Act.
Your message can be as simple as "Please do not bring S. 1545 to the floor for a vote, and please do NOT allow it to be attached to any appropriations bill, including the Omnibus."
The Senate is tentatively scheduled to go on recess on November 7th so any vote on the DREAM Act will likely occur within the next two weeks.
Please keep the heat on these Senators and let them know how much you oppose the DREAM Act.
2. Please take a minute to make a phone call and thank our three champions, Sen. Sessions, Sen. Chambliss, and Sen. Graham. They resisted enormous pressure to cave to this amnesty. Their phone numbers are listed below.
3. As well, we encourage you to voice your discontent with those Senators who voted to put illegal aliens ahead of legal immigrants and citizens.
4. Those of you who have a Senator on the Judiciary Committee will by tomorrow find faxes to send to your Senator based on their vote today.

All we former constituants need do is send in the money (40% for now) for these pigs to use against the same people putting the feed in the trough.
I'd encourage everyone to call email fax or write and let them know where you stand on this issue. If you don't they are only going to be hearing from supporters. That is what they would prefer. They can hold that up and say the voters have spoken 90% or whatever of phonecalls support this legislation. Please don't let them be able to make that claim.
On a more local note, when I first heard about the attempt here in Washington state to pass the same kind of legislation, I contacted every rep & senator I could find contact info for. It did pass, and now, the university of washington has revoked a long standing policy of allowing students who graduate from community colleges with an A.A and who maintained the requisite GPA from transferring into the UW automatically. Reason? Too many students. All the projections are that more and more Washington kids will not be able to get in. Yet the legislation that was passed only required illegals to have lived here for 3 years. With a minimal requirement like that I think it's pretty much a given lots of Washington kids are going to be the losers in the higher education game.
I guess those Wal-Mart illegals weren't brown enough.
Someone breaks into the coutry illegally, stays here five years, living in garbage cans and under bridges in California. After five years he or she comes to Maine and we have to give them college rates, within the State college and university system, equal to resident rates?
But, if my neighbors youngest, a naturalized US Citizen, goes to, say California to attend a state college or university, he has to pay non resident rates?
Do I have this right?????
