so much in this article, so little time.
OK. so we haven't found the big WMD. Does any one else think finding these "caches" of weapons a little off? Add them all together and they could massively destruct something.

But when they blew up the initial find, they discovered the larger supply hidden about 5 to 10 feet underground in tunnels and holes. The weapons were all kept next to a mosque. I'm shocked I tell you ........shocked.

We might not have found any WMD's yet in Iraq, but we've found enough conventional weapons to show that Saddam was an ongoing threat to his neighbors and in no way had abandoned his self-image as the military strongman of the Middle East.

Great job by the tipster and especially our forces!
One more time for effect: The weapons were all kept next to a mosque.

Probably nothing compared to the ones that were in the mosque.

Odd...CNN has no mention of this on their web site? Fox News had exclusive access to the military during the operation

Does anyone really think Saddam DIDN't have WMD?
What I can't figure out is why do they think they will be so easy to find when he buried them in the friggin desert or next to a mosque???

It would not surprise me if some or most of the WMD are hidden in mosques

Or in the middle of the desert. Of course the people that hid them were most likely executed after completing their task.

Thanks, Kaslin. Thanks for the ping, Coop.
U.S. personnel from the 1st Armored Division along with those from 82nd Airborne (search) found the first weapons cache some rockets, artillery rounds, mortars, blasting caps and C-4 explosives. They confiscated some of them and destroyed the rest.
But when they blew up the initial find, they discovered the larger supply hidden about 5 to 10 feet underground in tunnels and holes. The weapons were all kept next to a mosque.

Good security report from Fox News. Another bad day for the bad guys, ping!

Exactly. Even setting aside the WMDs in question for a moment, Saddam had enough conventional weaponry to supply mulitple armies many times over. And with many of these weapons having a supposed shelf-life, what were all these weapons for? I've never see so many weapons in my life. Isn't it reasonable to assume that much of this "conventional" weaponry was making it into the hands of other terrorists as well? The same kind of weapons that could bring down an airliner. Please...Saddam had to go.

Of course the people that hid them were most likely executed after completing their task. From "The Gold Bug," by Edgar Alan Poe:
"Yes, I perceive; and now there is only one point which puzzles me. What are we to make of the skeletons found in the hole?"
"That is a question I am no more able to answer than yourself. There seems, however, only one plausible way of accounting for them - and yet it is dreadful to believe in such atrocity as my suggestion would imply. It is clear that Kidd - if Kidd indeed secreted this treasure, which I doubt not - it is clear that he must have had assistance in the labor. But this labor concluded, he may have thought it expedient to remove all participants in his secret. Perhaps a couple of blows with a mattock were sufficient, while his coadjutors were busy in the pit; perhaps it required a dozen - who shall tell?"
