"Radio" Starring Ed Harris (Boycott Alert!)
PABAAH: Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood ^

Posted on 10/23/2003 12:29:08 PM PDT by jonalvy44

Of our president, Ed Harris had this to say:

"I haven’t even been drinking, but, at all, but, you know, being a man, I’ve got to say that we’ve got this guy in the White House who thinks he is a man, you know, who projects himself as a man because he has a certain masculinity, and he's a good old boy, and he used to drink, and he knows how to shoot a gun and how to drive a pickup truck, etcetera like that. That’s not the definition of a man, God Dammit!" --Ed Harris

That would be terrific, because that was the only point I was trying to get across.

In that case, your verbage was quite excessive.

I agree, bad biz sense. See Dixie chicks for another example.

The verbage you're referring to is different verbage, which occurred in a later post in response to a specific query from you and which was more or less appropriate to the nature of that query, by my reckoning. If you disagree you are free not to read, of course, just as the boycotters are free to not see Radio. Free country and all. Best,

What's Ed's problem, anyway?

Ssshhh. Lest I be called an uncaring sexist, this is just between you and me. He's got what we call in Texas, a complex.

I think it's contagious in Hollywood.

See? This is what I'm talking about.

See? This is what I'm talking about.

But I don't understand; how did you find the time in your busy schedule to read so much verbage from me in the first place.

Or are you being physically forced to do so against your will by someone?

Of course, there's always the possibility you didn't read my verbage at all. But that would mean your response was mindless because how could you possibly pronounce verbage excessive without actually reading it?

No, it's gotta be that "forced to read it" thing.

Presumably you wish to be understood and not seek to win the argument by means of exhaustion. For an example, see Noam Chomsky.

What "argument"? Last I checked we have no actual disagreement.

(Note: those quote symbols do in fact designate a quotation.)

The only thing I'm trying to figure out is why you're still reading and responding to my posts when you have nothing of substance to say. Indeed, I'm wondering why you posted at all to me.

For an example, see Noam Chomsky.

I'll pass. (See how that works? It's possible to choose not to read something.) Good luck,

Maybe they suspect their movies are already about to fail, and so they do things like this so they'll have someone else to blame...

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Someday we will have robots or cyberpeople who won't need speechwriters to display evidence of a brain.

Until then, it's good for these morons to out themselves and if we're lucky, they won't reproduce.

Hi, mel! . . . Under 'Find in Forum' search the titles for Kazan,
then when all your hits come up, change 'Quick' to 'Archive,'
and, if you want to,
change 'order by relevance to 'order by post time,'
and click on search again.
It'll be about 20-25 articles from the bottom. The archives are cool! :-)

That's it! They start to suspect they're in a stinker, and then rant against a Republican, so at least they've got membership in the Chill Wind Brigade.

I will. Yet I doubt that I'll see the film. Too up close and personal as I have a child that is legally "disabled". Actually they refer to Radio as "intellectually challenged".

Just as a "sick-out" sometimes works better than a strike, perhaps there is a better strategy than boycotting a product as a means of protest.

The analogous act might be for folks to 'spread the word' about what a stinker of a product it is (each in a fashion attributable as their own opinion, so there's no room for legal argument). Thus, those who might be tempted to defy a boycott on principle might instead follow the advice of many 'critics' in staying away from "a stinker".

It's not a "whisper campaign" if you come right out and say you think "it stinks" - although I suppose you could call it a "whisper boycott"...
