Chads anyone? In case anyone was wondering what impact the Reform Party will have on the next election, fogitaboudit. Kicked out by the GOP and the Reform Party, wonder who the 100% pro-life, America first Buchanan supporters will vote for now? - well .5% won't matter anyway.

With Diebolt doing the counting we'll never know if the 3rd parties gain any ground. Regardless of what the paperwork says, I don't see the lessor of two evils slant being nearly as effective for Bush this time around with conservatives. Many have had enough.

Is this a big surprise to you?

How long did you think Pat Buchanan was going to stay around after he got his millions in federal matching funds?

And what has he done in the Reform Party in the last two years to deserve to be a speaker at the convention?

"I don't see the lessor of two evils slant being nearly as effective for Bush this time around with conservatives. "

If the 'jobless recovery' isn't over by election day, then the 3 million and their families who have lost jobs might be having second thoughts. Of course, since these are union workers, they are not conservative anyway. Right.

Nah, not since Perot backed Hagelin and caused Buchanan to use funds to fight legal challenges. Perot wanted to avoid social issues. Buchanan wanted pro-life and condemned gay sex practices.

Buchanan wanted pro-life and condemned gay sex practices.

So what has Pat Buchanan done to make the Reform Party more prolife in the last two years? And how much progress has he made in getting the party to condemn gay sex practices?

Zilch. My recollection is that the changes he made in the platform have been reversed by the current leadership. The original Perot platform is back in effect.

Zilch

That's my point.

If it is as simple to change the large GOP as Buchanan made it seem, and if it is as simple to win the Culture War he proposes, why couldn't he show us how it is done in his small party?

Buchanan was wrong. He assumed that the pro-life social issue was very important to the 'large GOP'.
