I wonder why the press doesn't make stories like this known? Oh we probably heard about him dying, but not about the heroics invovled.
BTW: That's a rhetorical question. No answer required.

Rest in peace, hero.
P.S. Medals for valor are not won (like a lottery ticket)as the title of this article states. They are earned and awarded.

Ping. And SALUTE!,p> Pity, unlike Audie Murphy, who is mentioned here in the article, this hero's story will NOT ever become a movie, per Hollywood's new policy about the war.
He will be remembered by those who count, however. And may those who would willingly ignore him be his servants in Valhalla.

You can stand down now soldier, your battle is over. You left behind you victory and freedom, you bring with you courage and valor, and the thanks of a great nation. Enter these gates and behold heaven. God knows.... you deserve it.
As a combat vet from the Nam I can assure you that this happens on a regular basis in War. The cowards that won't defend their country spit on the grave of the men that do. But, when the crud starts getting thick, it's the brave, the true, and the strong that repel the enemy. If you don't want these brave men to die invane, you'll publish this story all over the net and push it to the leftist press. The commies in this country and the leftist press lost Vietnam for us (the Johnson administration helped). We better get on this, or the lefties will do the same thing to this war. I'm am NOT going to let that happen. How about you?

Heroes are not baseball players, football players or athletes who earn over $1,000,000 per year for their endeavors on the field; they are men such as this who care more for the lives of their fellow soldiers than their own.
God bless all of our soldiers who go into harms way. May Smith's family be comforted as he has gone to a better place.
