NEW YORK -- Longtime Fox News television commentator Tony Snow on Tuesday was tapped to launch the net's second nationally syndicated radio show.
Announcement by Fox News veep Jack Abernethy marks the news org's desire to have more of a radio presence.
It also means Snow, based in the nation's capital, will eventually relinquish his anchor seat at "Fox News Sunday," although he will continue as a regular Fox News Channel analyst on political and election coverage.
The only other syndicated show produced by Fox News Radio is the weeknight "Fox News Live With Alan Colmes."
Planned for launch early next year, Snow's long-form radio talkshow will examine issues of the day, in the nation's capital and around the globe. A title and timeslot for the daily radio program have yet to be determined.
"It is only fitting that Tony be an integral part of Fox News' expansion into radio, considering his presence with the network since 1996. With his reputation on Sunday television and previous work in radio, we feel Tony is naturally suited for a national radio platform," Abernethy said.
Abernethy is in charge of Fox News Radio, which is produced by Fox News and headquartered in Gotham.
"I'm thrilled to be doing a full-time radio show. Now I get the best of both worlds; a continuing presence on the nation's top cable news channel and the chance to help grow Fox News Radio," Snow said.
Snow has been a frequent radio commentator, substituting for such radio hosts as Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, who is presently off the air while seeking treatment for addiction to narcotic painkillers.

Cool.
I like Tony, even though he's got a lousy radio voice (no midrange!).

It also means Snow, based in the nation's capital, will eventually relinquish his anchor seat at "Fox News Sunday," I think this would be a mistake. Tony is a good-looking guy, but his voice isn't that terrific - kinda high-pitched and reedy (compare to the Great One, Brit Hume). It's better for him to be seen as well as heard.

I love Tony on the radio (he's talking about his house saga now which I always love to hear about) but I don't want him to give up FOX NEWS SUNDAY! (Well, maybe if Brit takes it over...)

Snow's been doing a great job filling in for Rush today.

Two hopes: 1. This is syndicated. 2. This is available via the 'net.
Snow will soak up so much of O'Reilly's audience, there won't be any oxygen left for the leftists who want air time. :)

Well Good. I think since they are filling up all the time on the news channels like CNN, the real news needs to be broadcast somewhere.
