Imagine if this were a LIBERAL, appointed by a dem president. The headlines would be screaming how a bunch of white senators are attacking a black candidate.

Don't even bother, Janice. The President and the GOP Senate have made it clear they won't go to bat for their nominees. Ever.

I know I might as well go upstairs, grab shotgun and shoot myself.
But I'm not going to. Instead I will bet you all that this one makes it.

I think you're right. There's WAY too much at stake for the racist Rats to filibuster Mrs. Brown. I've read some of the things she has written and it would be FANTASTIC if she made it.

Schumer said it. didn't he? From the excerpts I heard today. the Dems are planning on it.
I am so angry. It is so obvious they have no real objections other than she is conservative (from CA, yet) and they want to stymy Bush.
Please, people, let's make all the noise about this we can--letters, calls, one-on-one to family, friends, and colleagues. Especially those of you from states with lib Senators. I live in AL, and will be preaching to the choir, but Sessions, Shelby, and even my Repr. will hear from me. Also contacting Breaux, Zell Miller, etc. to see what they can do to reel in these out of control Dems.
Contacting Senate leaders about my displeasure with their letting them get away with these filibusters. Making the Dems put on a real bonifide fillibuster would get some national notice, and maybe wake up a few of the sheeple.

But she stood by the statements. "The speech speaks for itself," she said. She stood her ground, I just heard that on the C-SPAN re-run.

Justice Brown shows no signs of backing down. I hope she rips 'em to shreds with her intellect and character.
...Tolerance and diversity-yeah, right.

I've also already written my representatives on this.

You really don't know how filibusters work, do you?
In order to keep a filibuster going "24/7" as you say, would require a minimum of 50 GOP senators to ALSO be there around the clock.
Any time that number fell below 50, the Dims could move to continue debate on another day.
Those are the rules. Now if you want the rules changed, just say so.

I saw Mrs. (Miss?) Brown on CSPAN last night, and I swear it looks as if she's perpetually about to break into tears - that's just her normal facial expression!
Not too impressive. Nor was her speaking ability particularly impressive. She wasn't appointed just because she's black now was she?

I liked the part at the end where she said she did'nt bring her mom along because her mom would get upset over them picking on her girl.

And I dare the GOP to MAKE the dems filibuster. For real. None of this "we'll continue this tomorrow" nonsense. Make them filibuster 24/7 and get it all out there and over with. If they have the ba&&s. Both sides! The GOP needs to stop bending to the will of the shrill. They're giving them everything by NOT holding them to task To which you responded: You really don't know how filibusters work, do you? Now that it's all together, you can see that I wrote "Both Sides", yes? I do know how filibusters work. Which is why I was directing my comments at the GOP.

I think you may see forced 24/7 filibusters closer to election season -- Bush can campaign on it when people are paying attention, saying "I need you to vote for X for senator so I can stop these unfair filibusters and give these good candidates an up or down vote on the floor of the Senate." I'd love to see this!

Looks like California will go Bush this year.
Lots of professional women in Cali who don't like this sort of garbage.
Heck lots of professional women period don't like it.

Nickles is retiring - he has nothing to lose.
He took a bullet for us to get rid of Lott.
My money's on him to rescue us from the Girl Scouts controlling the Senate.
