I don't believe this is quite accurate. Didn't Shepard try to hit on a couple of yahoos, who took offense? In other words, he was beaten for what he did, not what he was. Not that his killers have an excuse, of course, but Bush's endorsement of marriage between a man and a woman has nothing to do with this incident.

I think the author is right.

The Bible should only be used by political leaders when they are sued for sexual harassment.

For instance, they can go to church, while their victims are testifying in a federal court house, and waive it to the crowd that is bowing down to him in the street.

Any other use of the Bible by political leaders would be an insult to America and to Christianity.

Sorry, his opinion on "faith based initiatives" is right on target.

Funding religious institutions with government money is the first step to putting them under government control. Look what's happened to our charities ! Many are simply extensions of fedgov policy. Our taxes fund many NGOs that act directly against our interests.

"Faith based initiatives" is lunacy - and unconstitutional. Bush needs to be stripping money away from NGOs and defunding federal giveaways, not adding more.

What religion, exactly, is a faith based initiative promoting? Im going to need details because so far, all you have given is rhetoric with no facts to back this assertion.

Either he is uneducated in this matter as it relates to the first ammendment, or he just hates anything that promotes family values, quality neighborhoods and a group of people who look to something greater than themselves.

I know people who think I am "stupid" or "naive" to put my faith in something like God rather than have total faith in myself and myself only. He seems to fit this mold. He would rather hate me and my spirituality than address real issues like poverty, broken families, lack of education, drug use and violence which all could be a result of populations turning from religion.

Faith based programs would allow organizations of faith (regardless of creed, sect, background or whether its God, allah or timbuktu), to foster positive growth with education, shelter, clothing and keeping families stronger..... How is this bad? Oh...I think I know...

Marxists' admitted goal is to destroy family, religion, dumb down populations and promote poverty for communism/Socialism.

He is either a marxist or a useful idiot for those types.
