Jeb Bush Detractors can leave their apologies here.

Posted on 10/21/2003 2:47:00 PM PDT by Pukin Dog

If the moderators will allow this thread, I would like to hear from those with courage enough to admit their mistakes in attacking Governor Jeb Bush, "suggesting that blood would be on his hands", calling him a murderer and worse with no evidence to back up their assaults.

While today is a great day, I would like to know how many people are willing to stand up and admit their wrongs?

Some may think it unnecessary, but I think a pound of flesh is in order, in a single place were we can all see and read about it. Please remove if this is out of bounds, but in all the congradulatory threads, I dont see too many folks willing to suck it up.

Many the vituperator found with you carrying that bucket of malicious spite you can not put down!
When a man becomes untractable and inaccessible by fierceness and pride, then vituperation comes upon him.

If people hadn't pressured him through public criticism, if people hadn't held his feet to the fire, if people hadn't shown him that they were watching and did not approve, would he have done anything? Would he have stuck with it or would he have just said, 'It's out of my hands. It's up to the courts.' which was his initial stand. Would he have done the right thing even it no one was watching? We'll never know. As far as I can tell he is just a politician that responded to public pressure. He has only done what he should have done, and perhaps too late at that. He deserves no apologies.

You need a new moniker: JELLO-MAN.

BTW I never advocated IMPEACHING Jeb, if you read the post correctly and did not rely only on your emotion to guide you to an over reaction.

I had said I did not sign it , nor did I know the author , it was for discussion and to illustrate what was being said out there in the cyber world.

Oh, what's is the matter , its ABUSE to bring petitions to this site that you don't agree with?

Personally, I have not spoken on this feeding tube affair in Florida until after Governor Bush acted. Yet I applaud all those who did, and who acted politely or even impolitely -- in honest measure -- to save her life.

I agree....

In the heat of passion, we may say things we regret, even between friends...

"There are some here who continue to attack us, and have for days now with nasty names, insisting that we are nothing more than "emotional idots and boneheads"."

I spent literally man-days on these threads, educating myself on this case and applying pressure wherever I felt it needed application.

I defended Jeb vigorously.

I never called anyone an "emotional idiot or bonehead".

For defending Jeb, I was called "deranged", a "kid" engaged in "circlejerk" logic who "couldn't get a date", and had threats to get an Admin to kick me off the board for my position that Jeb by himself had no power to intervene.

I saw a WHOLE whole lot more abuse and personal attacks coming from the anti-Jeb side than the pro-Jeb side, not just at Jeb, but at anyone who defended Jeb.

I do not expect an apology will ever be forthcoming. Some conservatives here have mastered the liberal trait of never admitting they are wrong.

Oh, and before you retaliate with "What did YOU do?", I did not send any letters to Jeb because I was wholly convinced from all his previous efforts (including passing on messages through Summer) that he was working as quickly as he could to save Terri. I -did- send over 200 form-letter emails out to all the legislature, plus a VERY long and detailed email specifically to Senator James King when it looked like he would have the power to prevent the Bill from being considered. I believe I did my part.

I wish her parents could file for divorce for her basing it on the fact he already has a common law wife that he has fathered children with.

I don't know how that could legally work, but the conflict of interest for MS should be quite obvious.

This thread is about NOT letting bygones be bygones. This thread IS about bearing a grudge.

Well, since it was my idea, I think I remain the expert in its motives. If the thread says to you "Shut Up", then why dont you? If the thread says to you "Go jump off a cliff", have a nice landing.

The thread is what it is, and when you can read my mind, then you will be much to busy to scold me, Houdini.

I did not trash Bush, and I got alot more done today before 8:00 am ,than you did this whole week. You did nothing but make fun of people and sit around with your thumb up your ass trying to come up with new names for dedicated caring people, I helped make this country a better place along with a million of my friends. I got alot done alright, by taking the time to care and make some noise. Cool heads do not call people names and enrage people in the manner you have this week. Cool heads were not there last night pleading for the life of Terri.

I really thought Jeb was gonna footdrag on this till it was too late, and the best Terri'd get was a memorial Terri's Law, "to prevent similar tragedies in the future." I am delighted to be proven wrong, and I am very glad Terri's parents will not have to go through the hell others are going through, wondering if their loved one could have been saved.

And more good news : Not only is Terri's tube back in, but she's been removed from that hospice , AND Michael Shiavo appears to be about to lose his "guardianship" of her. Thank God!

I did not put the bad-mouth on Gov. Bush.

I will confess that i doubted his leadership and comittment to doing what was right.

He certainly proved himself on both counts.

Well done Gov. Bush!

I only wish something could have been done before the tube was pulled; it wasn't as if nobody knew about it; there was a poll I freeped quite awhile back that was going badly for Terri.

It was public outrage that finally turned the tide imo. This is a victory, but still Terri and her family have been put through an unbelieveable hell.

They went the whole weekend and finally called the session on Monday. I'm thankful something was finally done and am grateful to Governor Jeb Bush for doing the right thing.

*raises hand*

I have applauded your posts, Qwinn.

Like I said before, I really never believed that ... *sigh*

I don't think I can repeat myself again. but, I vote in your favor regarding past posts.

Regarding the future, I hope we can all come together. As I said, if it weren't for the idealists, this (whatever it is, haven't even had time to find out what it is, typical of a freeper, right?) is a great development. I hope and pray Terri recovers.

If it weren't for devoted freepers, it would not have happened.

Unfortunately no mirror in the house reflects the condition of one's soul, so we must rely on the honest rebuke of others to fix that which we can not see ourselves.

This thread is about those who impugned the motives of the Governor, and assumed that he didn't care, some even calling into question his faith, dedication, position, and salvation .. even amidst almost daily statements and movements by his legal team who sought every available consitutional avenue to prevent Terri's death. Even now some are here saying he should have stormed the hospice as Clinton/Reno authorized in the Elian Gonzalez affair.

You said it better than I did. From now on, YOURS is the reason for this thread. Thanks.

Way to go, Governor Bush! :)
