We already have that. The ACLU is defending NAMBLA against a lawsuit placing NAMBLA as an accessory to the murder of Jeffrey Curley, a 10 year old molested and murdered a few years ago in Massachusetts by a NAMBLA member.

The ACLU also defended a NAMBLA officer who was discovered to be teaching in a NYC school... the district tried to remove him from the classroom, the ACLU fought to help him keep his job teaching children.

I respect that point of view, but that is giving kids way too much credit (plenty of kids are brats or, at least, very independent, and have no problem saying "no" to adults even when they shouldn't, e.g. "take out the trash") and adults way too little credit (in other words, that if a child can be manipulated by an adult, the adult will invariably take advantage of it.)

The age of consent for almost all contractural law in the US is 18 and even that may be a little too young. Look at how kids vote at that age - exactly how their left-wing philosophy professor tells them to vote more often than not. To expect someone younger and inexperienced, under the influence of a fresh dose of hormones, to make a conscience and logical decision when being pressured by an adult is just plain silly. Think like a salesman for just one minute.

I don't think either is true. It is possible for adult relationships to be manipulative, but we don't ordinarily send people to prison over it, and I think liberty-minded people need to seriously consider whether more harm than good may be done by our current sex laws.

It is more than possible for adult/child sexual relationships to be manipulative - it is highly likely even if the adult doesn't consciously manipulate. This is independent of gender. Adolescents with newly-discovered sexuality have a desire to experiment. Having an adult as a willing partner gives the adolescent a false sense of security around that adult. Kids, for the most part, trust adults though sometimes to their own detriment. Couple hormonal impulses and the will to appear "grown up" and you have the grounds for an adolescent acting in their own detriment.

Add in homosexuality and you have an instant recruiting process for deviancy.

Currently in Kansas, there is a case being heard. The ACLU is defending a man who got 17 years for having sex with a 14 year old boy. (He was 18 at the time.)

At first, I couldn't understand why the penalty was so much stiffer (no pun intended) if the victim was male versus female. (For a female victim, the sentence would have been 18 months.)

Then I found out that this is the third offense for the perp. I also found out that the ACLU is trying to use this case to claim that it is unconstitutional to forbid sex between an adult and a child as young as 13.

I sure hope this effort by the ACLU falls flat on its face.

Not to worry my friend, I ported into Thailand for 2 weeks while in the Marines and I can tell you right now, Thailand has the highest case of STD's and AIDS of almost any country.

So these child molesting perverts will come back with diseases picked up in Thailand and infect new child victims here. Often the perverts infect their unknowing wives, too. Then we will all foot the bill for their AIDS drugs.

Federal AIDS specific subsidies are over 15 billion dollars a year. Another 7 billion or so is spent through Medicare.

ACLU has access to law school clinics. They have law students who work AS LAWYERS under the supervision of licensed lawyers. The students do the work as if licensed as long as they are supervised on their cases. It is a source of cheep legal labor. Usually the supervision attorney is one of their ivory tower law school professors.
