Hollywood Avoids the War on Terror
PABAAH: Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood ^
Posted on 10/20/2003 12:56:33 PM PDT by jonalvy44
According to Daniel Pipes: Jonathan V. Last notes in today's Wall Street Journal that the war on terror is not the subject of a single U.S. feature film already produced or in the works. When asked why should be, head of the Motion Picture Association of America, Jack Valenti, replies with questions of his own: "Who would you have as the enemy if you made a picture about terrorism? You'd probably have Muslims, would you not? If you did, I think there would be backlash from the decent, hard-working, law-abiding Muslim community in this country."

They now have an international market, you know. That includes more than just Americans who hate America. Now it's potentially 6bn. Think about it, CNN fairs well overseas where the potential markets are huge. It's the same with Hollywood.

Movie to avoid at all costs Sum of All Our Fears.
Thanks for the advice. I've yet to see a good movie made from a Tom Clancey book.
Memo to hollyweird..try actually following the book. Now I know this is a pretty radical concept but try it once, if it doesn't work you don't have to do it again.

Excellent! I have forwarded this to my step father (retired captain, A4 pilot) and uncle, former diesel electric boat driver.

Agree Long Cut! There's a void to be filled, stay tuned. We have a new hero arriving in town soon. He's pissed and he's not happy with terrorists and leftists.

The problem is, we stopped fighting for the entertainment world a long time ago, and it's biting us in the rear.
Aside from Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Tom Clancy, does anyone know of widely-recognized entertainers who are unashamed conservatives?
The way back is going to be long - we're going to be guerillas in essence, and it will be a long time before there are conservative studios to go along with liberal studios.
The real hard part is going to be finding conservatives who have the inclination to write, act, and in general, be entertainers.

come on sam---that would make too much sense. The Muslim community wouldn't buy into it, though. Seems most of them are pulling for the Dems to win in 04. You hear them boo Lieberman the other nite? Muslims, even in America, are very anti-semitic and this needs to be dealt with.

it's called "Whoopi" on NBC Tuesday nites. Enjoy.

"Aside from Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Tom Clancy, does anyone know of widely-recognized entertainers who are unashamed conservatives?" And you know it's gotten pretty bad when you try to list 3 "unashamed conservatives" and you have to reach all the way over to moderately liberal Arnold to fill out your list!!

Bruce Willis?

I read it this morning; it is excellent! Thank you both for the ping. LC, thank you for being there for our country; Hollywood lives in its own little self-centered world - it's all about them, isn't it?
You are appreciated, LC - you and all of our men and women in the armed forces.

They should make a movie of Oliver North's, Mission Compromised. Maybe we could talk Mel Gibson into producing it.

1st Marine Division mourns fallen warriors
Our Marines brave and bold left our plane for a distant shore We will never forget their price for our freedoms nice And to those who think that freedom is Free Look at the tear stained faces to see the price they paid for you and me They gave all for us bow our heads in prayer this day for these men and say thank you Marine Job well done... We miss you sadly your families are undone by your loss and we do care God help them with their burden to bear.

I wonder if all this would change if an al Qaeda-trained Mujahadin terrorist cell invaded some Malibu compound and killed the inhabitants (Spielberg? Streisand?) in support of the very comments made by the Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed about "Joos ruling the world?
Hollywierd-types live in their own little world, completely divorced from reality.

Outstanding, Long Cut!
Your essay should be made into a movie.
Thanks for the ping, Jen.

You might not be as far off as you think...after all, there were supposedly
TEN targets on Black tuesday. The rest never happened.
Let's see...they hit New York, the financial center of the U.S., The Pentagon (military center), and apparently flight 93 was aimed at either the White House or the Capitol (government center).
Who is to say that they might not have targeted what they would have seen as the cultural center of the U.S., Hollywood? Certainly, its output would enrage them as least as much as the rest.
Maybe it still does...Osama hates unfinished business, doesn't he?
And they're totally ignorant of these things. Sad.

They're few and far between, and not related to the "War on Terrorism". But they were made, and they were good. I saw them in the cinema and own the DVD. I can't be the only one. These few exceptions point out (by contrast) the hideous reality of your post.
