Boone is butter-fingers tonight. Is Ventura in the dugout??

I'll take good ballplayers over prestige, name recognition, legacy, and panache anyday. Style over Substance for you New Yorkers?

I'm a Yankee fan, but what do you want from a ten year old team. Hell, they've already won one World Series, and just might win another. Two champions in ten years is a ratio any team would be happy with (except the Yankees). Everybody's got to start somewhere.

Is winning 101 games, and dispatching a tremendous Boston Red Sox team which achieved the highest slugging pct. in history "style??"
The Marlins will be just another speed-bump for the Yanks. You ain't coming back against Yankee pitching and Mariano.

Heh!
To: Petronski
Two Sacramento radio jocks were complaining about who made it into the world series. They predicted this will be the least watched series in histroy!
They may be right.
The Marlins? Whoever heard of them? :-)

The Marlins are a good team. They just have no tradition and no mystic, and appeal to a minimal audience.
To: ladyinred
Well, with only 250 posts on a world series thread, I'd say a lot fewer people are watching. I guess the Yankees/Sox playoffs were more fun to watch ;0)

Keep propping yourselves up w/ your wins over the Sox. Newsflash: You're not playing the Sox.

"Petitte is so overrated."Hmmmm.....
To: FlJoePa
Joe, with every Marlin at bat these last two games I'm reminded that the Yanks are NOT playing the Sox.
Both Wells AND Pettite were pitching on three days rest!
To: F16Fighter
They appeal to me and that's good enough for me.
To: F16Fighter
I wonder if the Yankees will have a lot of fans in the stands down in Miami.

Perhaps you are right, but who were the Miami Dolphins in 1972? They were a six year old team with no tradition, no history, yet they made their own history with a perfect season. The Marlins went from nothing, to World Series champion, tore back down to nothing and built back to the World Series- all in the span of ten years. I don't think that they should be blamed for not getting out of the way of the Cubbies. You got to earn your way in.

With all the transplants, there'll be plenty of NY Fans in Florida.

"Perhaps you are right, but who were the Miami Dolphins in 1972? They were a six year old team with no tradition, no history, yet they made their own history with a perfect season."Well, the AFL league itself was only about 12 years old at the time.
There was also the intrigue of "The Perfect Season," while the team had character -- remember "Butch and Sundance" (Csonka and Kiick)??

Good night guys -- catch y'all in a couple of days...

The Marlins will be just another speed-bump for the Yanks. So actually there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever that the Yankees should lose this Series.
