This is an "okay" review. He's fairly even-handed, giving Ann a chance to answer his questions, but you get the feeling he's dying to nail her.

What they keep stumbling over is all the hoopla surrounding Sen Joe McCarthy and the House Unamerican Activities Committee.
I listened to O'Reilly throw that at Coulter about 2 weeks ago. She cleaned Bill's clock and hit it out of the park.
She stated simply: McCarthy was a SENATOR, Bill. It's not POSSIBLE that he controlled the HOUSE Unamerican activities committee.
Bill O looked like someone had just slapped him in the face....and then he mumbled...well, I don't want to get into arguing history with you.
Damn straight he didn't want to. I think it had just then occurred to him how obvious the slime against McCarthy had always been -- right in front of his nose -- and he hadn't caught it.
Senators aren't in charge of House committees today, nor yesterday, nor in the 50's.

Fairly even-handed, you say?
Lashing out, shrill, sloppy, contrived, "half-truths, "primitive emotions," simple, bipolar, language-garbling, snide, notoriety, inflammatory

If they didn't prosecute Jane Fonda (for visiting the enemy during the Vietnam WarThis "sugar coated" describing what JF did as a "VISIT" is enough for me to stop reading this article. Ann need not respond to this 15 minute seeker.

I am certain I saw parts of this review before. Is someone plagiarising from earlier reviews?
Also, why do critics nitpick little problems with the book instead of addressing the big issue: the recent revelation of Soviet Venona cables that show that Commie spies really had infiltrated the highest levels of U.S. government. If you can smash the Venona cables, you smash all the main arguments in Coulter's book. But of course they can't, so they focus on trivial errors.

They always leave out the parts that demonstrate beyond doubt how killer smart she is. Coulter has a very good appellate court clerkship. Laura Ingraham was a Supreme Court clerk. She's killer smart, too.
I'm just delighted that Ann's young and gorgeous, so she gets an audience.
I'll never forget the first time I saw her on Geraldo's old show. She was ripping Clinton up one side and down the other. Not pulling a single punch. And Geraldo just sat there and looked at her with a goofy grin on his face. He was so taken with her looks he couldn't even argue with her.

As opposed to spending 50 years portraying McCarthy as a Nazi? she says with a scornful laugh. THAT's a very nuanced portrait! I think it's just meaningless blather, this nuanced business. I tend to agree with her.
Some self-styled intellectuals and academics tend to complexcise (is that a word?) everything.
It tends to equate opacity with profound insight.
And makes it easy to prevaricate, obfuscate and turn the discussion into politics of destruction or other cute "progressive" alternative.

A siren? I dont think so.
Let her gain 30 pounds. Until then, she is a weak buzzer, but not even approaching a siren. Somebody needs to toss that girl a burger.

Here is a brief description of Ann's hero:
The press revolted as well, with Edward Murrow of early television fame showing plain, unedited clips from the hearings to show the fraud in McCarthy.
Over the span of thirty-six days, there were thirty-two witnesses, 71 half-day sessions, 187 hours of TV air time, 100,000 live observers, and two million words of testimony.19 Joe kept up his attacks, which gradually weakened. Every day, millions of TV sets showed McCarthy pointing his finger yet again at another man. McCarthy was obviously slipping, but he didn't give up. Then, when he was attacking an associate of Joseph N. Welch, chief attorney for the Army, Welch stood up, faced the senator, and said:
Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you no sense of decency?
And with that, the hearings ended, and so did McCarthy's witch hunting career. On December 2, 1954, the senate voted 67-22 to condemn him for "conduct contrary to Senatorial traditions." The condemnationonly the third one in 165 yearsnoted the abuse of his Senatorial powers. After the condemnation, he tried to pass a few of bills written by him, but most senators didn't approve these, probably to avoid association with the "worst senator". He had lost his honor, and rightly so.
McCarthy was a drunken clown who was an embarrassment to this country. Why Ann can't figure this out is puzzling.

[ In Coulter's America, everything, it seems, is simple. She reigns over a bipolar realm of either right or wrong; love or hate; smart or idiotic; men or a Coulter favorite girly boys, a distinction that in her book yields such questions as the language-garbling Why are liberals so loath of positive testosterone? as well as Why can't liberals let men defend the country? (By men, she means Republicans.) ]<<- Frazier Moore...
It IS pretty simple really... Ann is just a girly girl... and how..

I read her book, and I'd like to know why she doesn't even mention the Boland amendment. You know, the amendment that said,"Nothing in DOD FY 1985 Authorization Act shall be deemed to authorize support for the contras in Nicaragua." Then she goes on to not mention how all the Democrats sucked up to the Ortegas when they came to Washington.
