"I have no sympathy for Alan. He is a fraud. "

I agree...If he says that Clintoon was the best president of the 20th century, you know he has to be a bogus fraud.

I am totally 100% the opposite of your view. I am just waiting for Hannity to come on there and get the truth out and tell them like it is. In fact, I appreciate that he has become more aggressive. It is just not the same when he is gone.

We saw Hannity in Dallas Friday and saw him get Kay Bailey to talk Ted Kennedy into coming on the phone (for a $2000 contribution to her favoriate charity).

Ted came on to get a chance at the nation-wide mike to spread his liberal nonsense to Sean's audience. No way, Hannity tried to break in and ask a question, Ted kept on speaking propaganda. In fact, he told Hannity not to interrupt him (as he is using free air time to spread hate rhetoric against Bush).

Sean would have no part of that - called a halt to it and said "Wait, I have to ask a question" - then he brought up his comments against the president on the Senate floor." Of course Ted got mad and said "I don't have to take this" and hung up.

It was wonderful. Can't wait to hear him play it on his show as we were unable to hear all of Ted's nonsense.

Hannity later mentioned this was a highlight of his career - right up there with his interview with Jesse Jackson.

By the way - he does a wonderful show - we were fascinated.
He did his radio duties and in addition assured that we had fun. Got my book signed.

Well worth the trouble and cost to attend.

A little more info on the Ted call by Hannity. Mark Davis and Gary McNamara were on stage also sitting at the mike when Kay Bailey Hutchinson called and explained she missed her plane and would not make the show. She advised they were waiting to vote. Sean asked if she could see Kennedy anywhere. She could and he came up with the request to speak to him. The other hosts thought this might be a set-up or that Ted would decline - but he didn't - he came on the show.

After the talk, he asked if she could see Hillary anywhere.

Sean is great.

I feel he is a really great asset for the conservatives and our young people. He gets a point - a simple point - and he hammers it over and over all week. This gets though and teaches the young teenagers. I have heard several mention that the young love Sean. He is great with them.

I don't see at all that he is not intelligent. He is not a Rush - but there are different talents. He is a master at the talk show business and apparently is never intimidated by any of our "esteemed politicians".

Now Colmes - I am getting worried about some of you - maybe you are being Colmized and don't realize it. Colmes may be nice but he always takes the low road in any discussion - he is a liberal and believes in liberal goals. He manages to hold on to his position by standing up for basic American views - otherwise he would have to go - we could not take it.

Poor Alan's problem is that he's hamstrung trying to defend the indefensible.

Considering that, Colmes is doing a bang up job.Alan ocaisionally smacks down a raving lunatic fringe left winger without breaking a sweat. This and the fact that he makes sense once in a while is why I still watch the show.

By the way - he does a wonderful show -

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. I listen to his show every day, because there's nothing else on.If they screened out all the "Sean your so wonderfull" calls from his Long Island fan club and replaced them people attempting to make an intelligent point THEN it would be a good show.

o'reilly, self-serving though he may be, for me is the model of someone who can agressively and eloquently convey a complex but logical point of view.

We essentially agree. O'reilly makes me grind my teeth occasionally, but I simply can't stand Hannity.

Poor Alan's problem is that he's hamstrung trying to defend the indefensible.

I think you've got it. And he does it without being rude or constantly interrupting. While I rarely agree with him, there are many who are far worse, as prior posters have identified (and some of my own): McAuliffe, Carville, Press, Shields, Hunt, Clift, Carlson, Matthews, Murray, Borger, Harwood -- and that's just cable.

Though I rarely catch the nets anymore, I find Jennings, Rather, Schieffer and Brokaw are losing their audiences to Fox for sound reasons. Russert can be tough at times (ask Gore and Edwards) but has great difficulty straying from scripted questions when he should be less rigid and adapt to unexpected answers. Obviously, there are many more with less face-time for me.

To be fair and balanced, I also have problems with the styles of O'Reilly, Hannity and Gibson, and occasionally Snow and Cavuto. Don't call me partisan; call misanthropic.

Alan Colmes has been called an on-air punching bag, a runt, wishy-washy, a milquetoast and — this one must really hurt — a conservative at heart.
...
And these words are from people who usually agree with him.

An honest man who is at bottom a good man, can pretty much expect this.

When one abandons the modern political equivalent of tribalism, the main characteristic of the most backward and brutal societies on earth, that's pretty much predictable.

Right. Unfortunately, if you counted the amount of substantive debate, Colmes would win.

Well, let's not get carried away. He must play his role as best he can.

Non-sequiturs and regurgitated DNC faxed talking points do not a reasoned debate make.

His fairness to Goldberg was done out of self interest.

He was afraid he'd become the subject of a best selling book. ;-)

I haven't watched Hannity & Colmes that much. I don't particularly care for the screaming and arguing they do with their guests.

I do know that no matter what liberal would be sitting in Colmes seat, they cannot argue their stupid and crazy opinions with conservatives.

They defy logical thought.

Colmes pi$$$s me off, I don't hate him.
He tries to do the one thing that liberals cannot successfully accomplish, he tries to make their position seem rational.

It cannot be done, but he tries and comes close sometimes; it is when he tries and misses so badly that I'm reminded of the great JFK-to-RR void that he pi$$$s me off.

Personally I feel the defining issue that makes one a liberal/socialist or marxist is how they view abortion. The associated madness that the abortion issue carries with it has become the defining instance in most of our lives. As it turns out this one issue is of such importance that it has prevented numerous candidates from being elected because they cannot get in step with the electorate. The one thing most moral individuals of christianity will not support is the murder of the innocents. There is always going to be issues that inflame and separate the voting public. I believe the vast majority of qualified voters are anti abortion because of the ghastly consequences associated with it. The dark side has made their bed in HELL on this issue and are forcing a lifestyle change on the American population.

Allan Colmes as a journalist seems to be a jovial sidekick but remember he is part of a national syndicated television show and is on radio as well. This puts his philosophy before a vast crowd in the country. He was invited into the inner sanctom of conservative pundits who tolerate his liberal drivel. He cannot be considered a harmless pussycat, so nice things said about him and I am sure he is a decent human being in most respects does not give a pass. Actually he has a lot in common with me we both have a face only a Mother could love. I didn't think anyone could be homlier than me! Just goes to prove that if you follow a pair of ugly kids home you will find two ugly parents hiding behind the door!

Alan Colmes is what a liberal is supposed to be - open minded. Most of the time liberals are totalitarian hate-America leftists who would throw us all into camps if they could get away with it.
