I don't agree with much of anything Colmes says, but he is a nice guy. Used to listen to his radio show all the time, it was a riot because most of the callers were conservatives slamming on him. He never gets vicious with people.

I imagine all the talk guys and gals get death threats regularly. O'Reilly has said he does, and so has Glenn Beck, who has required security guards at his home. There's a lotta sickos out there.

Right. Unfortunately, if you counted the amount of substantive debate, Colmes would win.

It's embarrassing to me when Hannity keeps yelling at a guest, "You're a liberal!" as a substitute for an actual debate of the issue at hand.

I quit watching H&C when i started feeling embarrassed for Hannity.... constantly twisting himself into a pretzel trying to defend and rationalize every republican position.

I have noticed that Alan Colmes has put some pretty tough questions to some of the Blame America first/hate Bush guests that have been on recently. He always asks them for their positive alternative suggestions, telling them that they can't rightly criticize if they don't have any positive alternative plans.

Frankly I wish we had more conservatives like Colmes and fewer like Hannity. Liberals ought to be glad they have a reasonable gentleman up against our blowhard.

Colmes is a class act. No wonder so many liberals hate him.

Yup. And if the liberals paid any attention, they'd see that he often makes some good points and gets the best of Hannity.

Ann often praises her 'good friend' Bill Maher. So I consider Ann's opinion of Press rather suspect.

She's a might poor judge of character, IMHO.

FAIR's American Viewpoint (another misleading corruption of the language) can be heard tonight on shortwave, 7.415Mhz at 6-7PM Eastern.

(I can only take the show for about 10 minutes.)

And if you're really masochistic, RFPI (Radio for Peace Int'l) replays that tripe in amongst all its other tripe.
(If they're still around - UN turf battle from what I gather/remember)

Matthews is hard to figure out. He may show some respect for Reps sometimes, but you can bet it is always out of self interest.

He supported some Rep ideas after the war, but when the DNC decided that polls showeed enuf time had passed since 9-11 that an all out attack on Bush would be possible, Matthews immediately jumped on the bandwagon and morphed from a moderate on Bush to a leftist criticizing Bush.

That is when I lost all respect for him.

Just because he is impartial 1 out of 30 opportunities does not garner any respect from me. His fairness to Goldberg was done out of self interest.

I loathe Bill Press also. Simps like him LIVE to be praised by liberal circles and accepted into the celebrity crowd. He is a broken record.

And with Colmes, once the multi miliion HC gig ends, just watch how far left he goes.

Dems are stuck in the past, not today's 'conservatives.'

I don't know. Conservatives will support things that work, new or old.

Dems insist on wasting money for the sake of wasting money to maintain power.

The left can best demonstrate their patriotitism (under the new definition per Clark) passively by volunteering to clear mine fields.

1 liberal, 2 chains, 2 trucks and drag them..

Matthews has political ambitions so he dare not be fair or balanced in his commentary.

"Matthews has political ambitions so he dare not be fair or balanced in his commentary."

I don't know. he worked in Wash so long. I think his life is too good now for him to go into politics.

In his best-selling book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," Al Franken ridicules him, even reducing Colmes' name to a smaller type size than Hannity's.

I'll consider Franken credible when he addresses Ted Kennedy and what happened at Chappaquiddick. Otherwise I'll continue to view his as a mouthy little pip-squeak who wouldn't get the time of day if liberals didn't control the mainstream media.

Al Franken looks like one of those guys who always got his ass kicked after school and now that somebody gives a sh!t what he has to say, he's making up for lost time. Wouldn't it be cool if we found out he was having an extra-marital affair with Arianna Huffington? After all, I hear she's partial to bi-sexual men.

Mr. Colmes is an example of a dying breed: a patriotic Liberal. After the Dems turned hard Left in 1972, the era of common-sense, patriotic liberalism in the FDR/HST/Adlai Stevenson/HHH tradition disappeared, leaving only ideologues, cranks, and '60s-radicals-gone-legit to bear the Donkey banner. Sad, really: the only Liberals left on the national political scene are those who want to destroy the traditional American system and way of life.

Then there’s gravitas: compared to notable Liberals of the past, the leading lights of the Democratic Party today, such as Senator Clinton, Mr. Kucinich, or Mr. Dean are weak tea indeed. Not one of the current leading Liberals in America has the slightest intellectual heft (as didAdlai Stevenson), true hatred of totalitarianism (like JFK) or a sincere if misguided sense of noblesse oblige (as did FDR or Truman).

I like Mr. Colmes’ radio program, and I’m sure that he’s equally affable in person. America needs more patriotic liberals like him and fewer socialist nutbars.

FAIR has likened Colmes to the Washington Generals, the hapless basketball team hired to lose to the Harlem Globetrotters every night.

Gee, I love the analogy! Great post!!!!

Can't wait to watch the Washington General in action, M-F from 8-9 edt.
