On the morning shows, every single bit of good news for the US was immediately rejected by the panelists and DNC talking points were then trumpeted to change the subject, bringing up how everything Bush does is a failure.

Matthews is a jerk. He opened the show with "American blood is running in the streets of Baghdad"

This was a carefully chosen phrase. Saddam said this before the war. This phrase shows exactly whose side Matthews and 99% of the media is on. The implication was "saddam was right, Bush was wrong."

Graham was on Russert and said that Iraq was a quagmire and said when asked, "It is just like Vietnam". Even Russert was surprised. And this guy is the head of the__??? commitee? He is a dupe of the CFR.

After Safire was steamrolled for the 10th time with bias on Russert, he said to him, "This is the filter Bush spoke about". Russert IGNORED his point, grabbed a WP, and pointed at the front page story bashing Bush as though it was a universal truth, and blathered on.

Rant off...

I just can't stand the looks of the wild eyed smuk, he is by no means a conservative.
He shouldn't worry if his own kind turn on him.

Although I agree with Hannity 90% of the time, I much prefer Colmes demeanor. Hannity is a pious knee-jerk conservative who never stops whining. Colmes, despite his inexplicable intellectual attachment to socialism, debates with far more grace.

Liberals should love the guy, he regularly makes Hannity look like an ungentlemanly zealot. I guess that is lost on a party that actually admires Al Franken, Micael Moore, and James Carville.

"Liberals" as they exist today, do not tolerate any break in the barricades, and the least show of wavering, or weakness in espousing all the pet causes they have come to bring under their umbrella, is excuse enough to turn with the savagery of Tasmanian devils on the apostate in their ranks.

Alan Colmes may yet become more of a conservative that Tucker Carlson. Perhaps he already is.

Colmes is a class act.

I agree.

Actually, Hannity is the one I can't stand ... a room-temperatured I.Q., loud-mouthed, parroting, administration shill.

Consequently I don't watch the show much.

I watch Matthews a lot, and I honestly can't figure him out. Sometimes he's a totally over-the-top lefty. Other times he really -does- play extremely hard ball with other liberals, brutally calling them on their BS.

A good example was after the recall when Terry McAuliffe changed the DNC spin to "It's a referendum on incumbents and Bush should be scared". Matthews let him have it with both barrels, practically mocking him outright.

And then again, other times, Matthews is nothing but a pure spin-meister, like in the cases you pointed out, or when he repeats the Democrat Talking-Lies, like the "imminent threat" BS.

But then again, Matthews gave Bernard Goldberg an extremely fair interview on his book "Bias", and I have seen him concede that there is liberal bias in the media.

ARGH. Like I said, I simply cannot figure him out. I generally feel that he's an "honest liberal" in the Colmes category, for what that's worth, but sometimes he repeats the Democrat spin so blatantly that I want to take it all back.

I think overall he repeats some of the lies because he's been inundated and actually believes them. In other words, he's often wrong or misled, but I don't think he's intentionally -lying-.

Colmes and Matthews (and maybe Gephardt and Lieberman) are the ONLY public liberals I can think of that fit into this category anymore. And even they are stretches sometimes.

Regardless of what Ann might say about Bill Press, I have no respect for him. I've seen him say some things that are so overtly hypocritical and outrageous that I'll never believe he's anything but a deliberate spin-machine for the Dems.

"Alan Colmes may yet become more of a conservative that Tucker Carlson. Perhaps he already is."

Heh, funny you should mention Tucker, I was thinking of him as our version of Colmes. Initially I really liked him, but I've seen him roll over for Carville and Begala and let them get away with such outrageous spin so many times that I've come to feel he's pretty wimpy myself. It usually happens when they're running against the clock, though, so maybe I'm being too hard on him. But damnit, Tucker, if the clock is running out, get your word in BEFORE it runs out, don't just save your only line to be "We -have- to break for a commercial, we'll be right back!" Argh!

But then, Tucker like Colmes is a class act as far as demeanor goes. Never seen him be bombastic. Wish he could just firm up his spine somewhat.

I'm with you on your assessment of Hannity, and as a consequence, I too, don't watch the show that often.

As much as I usually disagree with Colmes, I do have to admire his honesty and have sympathy for his situation. He could have gone to hundreds of places and been just another unchallenged leftist media tool. What makes H&C different from Crossfire and other political gabfests (outside FNC and a view shows on MSNBC) is that the topics are usually what the conservatives are talking about, not what the liberals want to talk about.

If Patty Murray says something entirely ignorant about Osama bin Laden, the lib networks pretend it didn't happen or, at best, claim she was misunderstood - making any conservative guest look petty and small for even making an issue of it. But they could spend hours on a perceived gaffe by Trent Lott or Dan Quayle.

On H&C, Colmes often has to play defense and there are few other places on television where liberals have to play defense. He could be on in all sorts of other venues where his liberalism would never be challenged. I admire that he at least allows himself to be challenged where many liberals won't dare expose their shortcomings like that.

con·ser·va·tive

1)Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change

Definition # 1 defines the Dems perfectly. Our labels are backwards, mainly because the Dems insist on sticking with old, tried & false ideas like public schools (vs. vouchers) , Soc. Security (vs. private investment), welfare, New Deal type socialism. Dems are stuck in the past, not today's 'conservatives.'

The liberal media watchdog group Fairness and Accuracy in Media studied two weeks of "Hannity & Colmes" this summer and found that between the co-hosts and their guests, conservatives spoke 2,768 lines to 2,004 for liberals.

What errr... "FAIR"... fails to mention is that half of the 2,768 lines spoken by conservatives are statements from Hannity trying to shut up the loud and obnoxious liberal guests and give the conservative guest a chance to speak. They have to threaten to cut the liberal's mike all the time, I've never seen them have to threaten to cut off a conservative guest's mike.

That's because most of the conservative lines are Hannity yelling, "Say it! Say it! Say you hate America. Say you want us to fail! Say it!" It's fun for about the first 2 minutes, then it gets old.

Yup! Im Glad Im not alone in being annoyed with Hannity's style.
