"I thought a true liberal is someone who was open to the other side and open to all ideas," Haven't seen too many of those around. I think they're extinct.

Personally, I always wished that MSNBC had done a Alan Keyes and Phil Donahue show, that would have had fireworks all the time.

I exchanged e-mails with Colmes a couple of years back and he was a nice, reasonable gentleman. He's proof (and about the only proof) that not all liberals are raving lunatic jerks in the Terry McAullife mold.
I was listening to James Dobson's Focus on the Family a few weeks ago and they had Michael Reagan as a guest. Reagan said that when his sister died, Alan Colmes was the very first person to call him with condolences.
Colmes is a class act. No wonder so many liberals hate him.

Colmes is rare for a liberal - he actually has integrity, and sometimes he even makes sense.

"I thought a true liberal is someone who was open to the other side and open to all ideas," We're guilty of that here on FR. If someone doesn't tow the party line they're told to go back to DU. Both sides need to realize that thinking for yourself is a good thing.

'Join us leftists or be crushed' is their MO.
I have no sympathy for Alan. He is a fraud.
He plays a pol part on HC. He strays from lib attacks just enuf to not piss off viewers of the show, because ratings would go down and he would be fired if he said what he really wants to say. HC is his meal ticket to fame and wealth. He will not rock the boat now.
When his run on HC ends, just watch how fast he does a 180 and joins the leftist gang. There is no doubt.

As an aside... Russert's panel today had 3 to 1 libs.
Matthews had 3-0 libs.

My reaction to that line was "well, it looks like Liberals got around 1500+ more lines than conservatives would have gotten on similar shows on ABCNNBCBS".
To: Sub-Driver
Poor Alan's problem is that he's hamstrung trying to defend the indefensible.

The left has its David Gergen. We have our Alan Colmes.

You should see the e-mails he gets from people who don't. Wrote one disturbed fellow: "When you talk I fantasize about shooting you. I pretend I have a pistol in my hand and shoot you all over. I pretend to shoot you in the head and in your torso ... If you died I would celebrate." This from a liberal?? ... A liberal who thinks the war is Iraq is a bad thing?
Well Gosh Goly Gee, aren't they just a fun loving Group ../sarcasm>

Liberals don`t like Colmes because he isn`t a traitor like the usual liberal. That`s all it is. He doesn`t show full throated on the kness support for Saddam, and doesn`t curse out the US while on foriegn soil. How dare he.

"He's proof (and about the only proof) that not all liberals are raving lunatic jerks."I've heard Ann Coulter speak about what a nice, courteous fellow Bill Press turned out to be.
When the camera's off, says Ann, he's very pleasant to be around.

That's because most of the conservative lines are Hannity yelling, "Say it! Say it! Say you hate America. Say you want us to fail! Say it!" It's fun for about the first 2 minutes, then it gets old.
