If all this is true, and next spring finds Bush announcing troop withdrawal schedules in Iraq while unemployment falls at home, the GOP, not Democrats, will be looking forward to November.

The Democrats AKA the Nine Dwarfs may have peaked too soon. Its good news for two individuals: President Bush and Hillary Clinton who you can be sure is already looking ahead to 2008. Unless both of the things Mead talks about heads south in the course of the next year, November 2004 could be another GOP romp.

Richard Gephardt is the only dwarf that has even a shred of credibility left.

Oh that's not true. Lieberman has a little credibility (especially in the face of his own party). He's just wrong on most issues.

Credibility, beit a shred or a wagon load, holds little value with the democrats who will choose their nominee.
Let it be Dean, let it be Dean, let it be Dean. He's so mean and obnoxious.

I can't make up my mind between Dean and Clark. So many dwarves, so little time...

LA Times 101:
Never ever ever believe anything you read in this worthless piece of crap newspaper. It is a propaganda outlet for the DNC and is a waste of time to read.

Clark's worrisome because he's an empty suit but in a military uniform.

Clark's worrisome because he's an empty suit but in a military uniform JMO, but he seems to be in the midst of a mini-implosion as of late. Dean seems to have the most energized base.

Agreed, but the media seem to love Clark --- they're promoting him because I think they believe Clark has the best shot to unseat POTUS.

A good rule of thumb - but this column is way off the usual beat for the Times.
Certainly not the kind of thing thier editors want to hear.

The Democrats AKA the Nine Dwarfs may have peaked too soon. Judging from their appearance I didn't think any of them capable of electionaction much less premature electionation ;-)

"Richard Gephardt is the only dwarf that has even a shred of credibility left". I used to think so too until I heard his speech to a Washington union gathering condemning Bush for the deaths of our soldiers in Iraq by inserting the phrase "these kids are losing their arms and legs over there"- the lowest form of demagoguery.
we would all do well to never forget that today's Democrat politician holds a higher allegiance to their party than their country.

Credibility does not elect presidents, ignorance does. Anyone that thinks Bush has it locked is mistaken. The Demoncrats have a big advantage in numbers of party registrations. The constant barrage of attacks by the media on the left is having its effect. Bush squeaked by because of the Monica and Chinese incidents in 2000 and the revulsion of the voters. He doesn't have this advantage now.

Credibility does not elect presidents, ignorance does.True. Unless GWB can change the perception that he's ignoring the economy he's going to have a hard time. That being said you can't beat something with nothing (as the republicans found out in 1996). None of these 9 dwarves has any clear proposals, it's all a beat-on-Bush fest when they get together. If the DNC ever gets its $**t together and comes up with a credible sounding platform, however nutty it may actually be, Bush can be in real trouble. Remember the average voter doesn't frequent places like FR, and only knows what the lamestream media wants him to know. That and republican ineptitude was how Xlintoon was able to stay in for 8 years

Gee, I think just about any one of those pumpkin heads is a political implosion begging to happen (even Hillary looks more and more like squash). So the question for Freepers is WHICH implosion will bring the greatest joy to our blackened right wing hearts.
Dean may very well bring the greatest joy, because not only will he lose big time (they all will), but he also rips the Democrat Party apart in the process AND weakens Queen Hillary and Consort Bill's death grip on the Left (just enough to ensure she goes down like a flaming meteorite in '08)
Joy! Joy! Joy! Joy!

November 2004 could be another GOP romp. The GOP has lousy, uninspiring candidates, except in North Carolina.
