Those who stand Vigil have asked that a Prayer Thread for Terri Schiavo be started for any wishing to comfort and encourage Terri's family and friends and those who have labored on her behalf. Another Vigil will be held at 1:00 p.m. today at the Woodside Hospice, and another will be held at 3:00 p.m. today in front of the White House, through the efforts of an organization for the disabled.

One of our traveling FReepers is now at the Vigil and has met with Terri's family and speaks of their enormous grief. Terri's mom has been given some lotion, which she will use to tend Terri's feet. Prayers posted will be printed and given to Bob and Mary Schindler and their son and daughter ~ may they find some measure of comfort in our words.

Special Session Called in State Legislature

Speaker of the House, Johnnie Byrd to introduce “Terri’s Bill”

Clearwater, FL October 19, 2003: The Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, has called a special session of the Florida Legislature for Monday, October 20, 2003. At that time, Florida’s Speaker of the House will introduce “Terri’s Bill”. By Florida law, two thirds majority vote are required to have a topic entered.

Volunteers with the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation have learned that Senate President, Jim King is against this bill.

The Bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths currently pending in Florida.

We have come to a time when the merchants of death have created a constitutional crisis and a justice gridlock, while the rightful life of Florida’s disabled and vulnerable citizens tragically hang on Terri Schindler-Schiavo’s court ordered dehydration and starvation death.

We urge all concerned Floridians to contact their Senators and State House members to vote for Terri’s bill.

No need for my forgiveness, lakey, for you feel just as I did ~ drained of hope because the road has been dark and long and we are exhausted. But he remembers our frame and knows that we are dust and he takes pity upon us. In His mercy, we ask forgiveness ~ in His mercy, He grants forgiveness.

Heavenly Father, You have refreshed our dear Prayer Warriors with the news that You are moving in the affairs of men ~ pierce the hearts of those who will consider this Bill ~ stir the people to call their representatives ~ let our cries of outrage and need for redress accomplish Your purpose ... in Your hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.

Father, You remember our frame. Our glimpse of Terri's suffering is our own, seemingly constant need for water. She has withstood these many days, and we have not. She has been called upon to endure, and we have not. Lay not our weakness to her charge, I pray ~ feed her and quench her thirst in a supernatural way this night and through the coming days, that she may again be refreshed. Hold back the hands of those who would still wish her harm ~ bind them tightly and let there be no escape from Your bonds.
