It is a touchy subject for me, and I have read many posts (elsewhere) that have made light of the situation regarding letting her die in order to have her organs. To me that is just horrific, as much as I wanted a new heart for my daughter, I would have never wished the murder of another human being in order to get it (my daughters donor was a child abuse victim, so it hits very close to home for me). Because, according to the law, Michael was her guardian and could decide her family would not even be able to visit Terri?

Ok....leave Bush out of the discussion for a minute. Here is MY QUESTION.....what is happening to Terri, is in DIRECT VIOLATION of the ADA!!!!! Why then, can't Governor Bush, President Bush, Attorney Ashcroft intervene LEGALLY?? is the only reason that, the highest court in the land has already ruled in the case,and any decision or intervening on the Goveror/Pres/attGEN would be illegal?? * sorry for my uneducated question* pa always told me if I " didn't know.....ask"!!

The article's premise is that Terri is NOT married to Michael and therefore her parents should be her guardians.

He denied communion because she could choke and aspirate the host. The priest gave her last rites without the communion.
He denied her parent's visitation because he said publishing the videos (which were obtained secretly in violation of Greer's order) were degrading to Terri and an invasion of her privacy.
Guardians wield a lot of power over helpless people- remember that when you choose somone to act as your surrogate. This man is heartless.

Ok. I was thinking that YOUR thoughts were that Terri is in a vegetative state. Thanks for clearing this up. That leads me to another question...." why didn't the Judge go " see her" himself? In a life and death situation, couldn't Terri have been brought into the court room per Judges orders???

You mean they cannot go back in time to pass a law soon enough to save Terri, I guess.

Too bad Michael arranged to have her tube removed before any new laws went into effect.

I wonder if Mike was in a hurry to get this deed done so that she would be dead long before the laws could be changed. My guess is that any new laws and subsequent rulings about them could have saved her.

Supreme Court Overturns Most Death Penalty Laws

In the 1972 case of Furman v. Georgia, 408 U.S. 153 (1972), the Supreme Court issued a 5-4 decision effectively striking down most federal and state death penalty laws finding them "arbitrary and capricious." The court held that the death penalty laws, as written, violated the "cruel and unusual punishment" provision of the Eighth Amendment and the due process guarantees of the Fourteenth Amendment.

As a result of Furman v. Georgia, more than 600 prisoners who had been sentenced to death between 1967 and 1972 had their death sentences lifted.

I am not raging on you, but your alleged qualifications are directly in contrast to your posts.

You may be able to put one over on some of the people here, but if you are really an ER RN you won't put one over on me. I have worked pediatric ER, I have the MICN, the CEN, as well as seven other advanced certs.

If you are going to post things, be prepared to be challenged by other professionals here.

It has been said that the governor must respect, enforce, an uphold the law. Is the judge's ruling a law? Or is there a law that says he may not override a judge's ruling? (As he might in a commutation of a death sentence.)
