Naw, no empty stomach here. Had a good dinner, but washed it down with quite a lot of merlot....
I'll be asleep on the couch in another half hour, maybe faster if this game continues as it has. Zzzz...
Like others mentioned, I'm not into it like I was the other games. Probably because since it's just game 1 a lot of the tension isn't there yet.

Hard to believe Steinbrenner and Cashman ignored him.
Can you imagine a Posada/Pudge tandem?

Johnson's never been swift on the bases...
Do you believe how many rallies the Yankees have flushed down the toilet already??
To: FlJoePa
He went after a hog dog vendor in the 2nd inning... I thought he promised to be a good boy from now on.

Matsui and Sorry-a*&hole are the fastest runners for the Yanks.

Matsui was an excellent pick up by the Yankees. He's a tough out. Johnson is too. He led the team in on-base percentage, but didn't get enough at-bats to contend for the major league title because he was injured for part of the season.

"Giambi's just not the guy you want up when moving runners along is your goal."He should be batting 9th, and Boone 8th.

Pettitte didn't pick off one batter this year, amazingly enough.
Maybe the league is finally catching on.

I thought a scupper (the noun) was the British version of scuttle (holes on deck to let excess water run off) but I thought when you used it as a verb you used scuttle?
Shoot I don't know. I'm not a sailor. Love the sea but not a sailor yet. At any rate, the German ordered his boats sunk ;-)

Matsui is by far the best fielder the Yanks have had. Has that well-educated awareness of the game Jeter has.

Tied 1 to 1- top of the fifth. From a Red Sox fan- it would be a shame for the Yankees to lose this series after beating us. Yanks- pull this series out and make it 27. Don't lose to such a young team with no tradition.

Man, that sportsline.com site is great! Yeah, it's a lot better than ESPN.

If the Red Sox playoff bullpen success carries over to next year, they could win 110 games in 2004.
To: annyokie
He threw 142 pitches at batters this year. Did you just make up that statistic out of whole cloth, or what? Clemens had about 35 starts, so your numbers whould mean that he was hitting 4-5 batters A GAME!
To: F16Fighter
Yeah, chances have been blown today. .....But it's early, and it's tied.
Truthfully, I don't think I'll be revved up for this series until next week. .....Still savoring the game 7 win.
To: demlosers
They'll screw it up. We're talking Red Sox management here.

I did not know that - how many bases were stolen off him this year? I can't find it on the Web.
To: Mr. Mulliner
"How do you figure the Marlins had "zip" pressure?"Who expected the Marlins to do squat?? There's NO pressure to be a great team when you're NOT a great team. The Marlins are merely playing great because the expectation is low.
OTOH, the Yankees....are expected to win ALL THE TIME, aren't they?
