FREEPERS, I have taken a break from Terri's 24/7 Vigil to ask for your participation in the next phase of trying to save Terri's life while we wait for good news.
I have not received the Governor's Itinerary for the following week yet from myflorida.com.
We are asking Floridians and out-of-staters to freep the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee.
If you need ideas for signs, it's basically urging Governor Bush to issue an executive order to stay Terri's starvation.
At this time, the Florida Supremes are reviewing filings today by Terri's counsel.
We need northern Florida to freep Jeb Bush STAT whether he's there or not.
Finally, if anyone receives Jeb's schedule in their e-newsletter, please post it here so we can hold Terri vigils in whatever town Jeb is in.
Sorry, I can't be more informative at this time. I'm sunburn and tired and this request has come from Terri's team. Thank you in advance. Floriduh Voter

Yeah. Governors have the authority to just say, "Hey! Here's a new law! Problem solved!". Well, for starters, he could have his attourney general threaten to charge hospice personnel with neglect if they fail to keep Terri's mouth moistened as is standard protocol even when someone's feeding tube is disconnected; Judge Greer's orders didn't authorize withholding such palative treatment. Only a short-term fix, but it would help Terri a lot until Greer can produce a new order on Monday.
He could also ask the attourney general to investigate other neglect charges, subpoenaeing Terri as a witness.
Judge Greer is giving orders he has no rightful authority to make. The nature of "checks and balances" means that an executive can overrule the judiciary when he determines that it acts illegitimately, and the legislature can impeach an executive whom it determines has wrongly used such power. In practice, I think impeachment of Gov. Bush would be unlikely as it could be shown that it is Greer who is acting contrary to legislative design.
Sometimes executive overrides have been used for good; sometimes for evil. They are certainly not, however, unprecedented (at least at the national level--I don't know about Florida in particular).

So, are you advocating an unrestrained leader who can do whatever the heck he wants?

Why isn't the medical company who paid him off, demanding their money back?! You might want to look into who ran that company. And that person's "relationships" with... "others".
And you might want to look into what happened with that company's continued existence when the Schindlers started asking questions.

I don't, however, agree with the idea of leaders we elect acting by fiat. But, maybe that's just me ;0)

In a true fight, both parties end up dirty and with black eyes. Right now, there are no black eyes! I pray that there are some people, able to go to Florida who are willing to get their eyes blackened!
This is a fight for a life. She is being murdered and people are sitting on their butts, talking! I am happy that my grandfathers did not sit on their butts, or we would not have had a country at all. Folks, we are losing our country right now! It is time to fight this murder.
Let me ask each of you, what would happen if a husband was forcing his wife to give birth to a child? What would happen if an abortion doctor were sentenced to death? Do you think the left would walk around with candles and sing songs? Would they be having a pic nic on the lawn of the Hospice? NO! They would be turning over cars; running the police line; getting arrested and gassed...shoot Martin sheen does it all the time! I guess they will win because they have more guts than the conservatives do! The hoodlums of LA will win and run this country, because they have more guts than conservative talking heads.....
I am done talking....I am going to make a big fuss......

Should we start getting bail money ready, or are you just being hyperbolic?

No, Chad. And, this a unique situation, IMO.
If Jeb found the courage to do the right thing, he would be in the same place that George Wallace was in, what 1963, saying "Segregation now, etc....
But Jeb could stand in front of the Killing Field saying "Life now......

You are ignorant - 100%.
Gov Bush has laws to deal with, you ignorant twit.
People like you waste everone else's oxygen.

I'd love to see Jeb do the right thing, but I'd also like to see him do the right thing in a manner in which it doesn't set a bad precedent - something that a future governor could use to his or her favor, in a way that strips us of our liberties. That is my only worry.

Here's one:
Article 1, Section 2 of the Florida State Constitution
SECTION 2. Basic rights.--All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and liberty, to pursue happiness, to be rewarded for industry, and to acquire, possess and protect property; except that the ownership, inheritance, disposition and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for citizenship may be regulated or prohibited by law. No person shall be deprived of any right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical disability.
Constitutional rights should always trump codified law.

Like many another, had I known of this earlier, I could have convinced the Schindlers that the legal system does not always deliver what is morally correct and just. I'd be dead myself if I'd had only the law to protect me.
It took individuals who had caring hearts, moral courage and common decency to save me. And they knew they were outside the law. One was a judge---hundreds of miles from his bench, unpaid, a stranger. There are such people.
If I were physically able to be one of them, no law would stop me. I know firsthand that the law is only a weapon, morally nothing without reference to the hand wielding it.

Ok. Fine. Good. Now someone is thinking, and not just acting on emotion. I like that. :0)
I'm just shocked at the number of people who are claiming they are ready to swoop in, guns blazing, and spirit this woman off, while destroying property, rioting etc... all fuled by 'feelings' instead of sound, logical arguments to back them up. And most, I'm afraid, are VERY new posters here. Call me paranoid.

Precedent of starving this wonan was set in Roe v Wade - and its sorry aftermath.
What worse can happen?

WHat worse? Well, we can have a handful of posters here advocating violence, which could result in this site being marginalized and shut down, for starters. Then, emboldened by that, the Left will get even more out of control.
Hope this helps :0)
