Condi on Oprah
Oprah Show
Posted on 10/17/2003 2:06:30 PM PDT by Republican Red
A thankless job but I tuned into Oprah this afternoon to see Condi Rice on the Oprah show. Oprah was doing a show on "women who excel in their field". The had the CEO of Ebay, Vera Wang and Condoleezza Rice all in different segments.
Oprah was actually very graceous and complimentary. The segment was about her personal life mostly.
One question Oprah asked was "behind closed doors does the inner circle at the White House secretly wish they would find weapons of mass destruction?". Condi answered by reporting all that Kay found including the missiles and botulism toxin. Oprah cut her off saying "let's not get into politics". I guess Oprah didn't really want to hear about the stuff they found.
Oprah then surprised Condi with an introduction to a black teenage girl who idolizes Dr. Rice. This young girl loved to read about Russia and Chinese literature. The girl made such a sad (to me) statement. She told Condi that "Condi made it okay to be smart". You've got to wonder why the African American population follow the Jesse Jackson/Al Sharptons of the world when there is some one like Dr. Rice to emmulate.
Condi did a great job. Great PR move.

So the Big O asked a political question, but when she didn't like the answer, said "let's not talk politics"?
To: over3Owithabrain
Yep, but Condi got her answer in. All those dimwit Oprah followers learned today that there were WMD listed in the Kay report.

Then why did she ask her the question about what goes on behind closed doors at the WH?

The never "found" Hitler either. Soviet troops quietly scooped up his charred remains and didn't tell anyone that they had done so for years.

She told Condi that "Condi made it okay to be smart".
This makes me so angry at liberals. They treat minorities as if they cannot think for themselves and must be taken care of just like a pet cocker spaniel.
My son made a statement to me during his leave that was right on target. He said that liberals would like to make the military a new minority. The elitist believe that they need to speak for our military because they are not capable of a single rational thought on their own. This belittles our troops and eats away at moral.

Not all. ..... Recently, I spoke with two Dean supporters
who refused to believe there could be WMD in Iraq
because
"it was never reported by the media"
========= Chemical Warhead found in Kirkuk, Iraq =============
Chemical warhead at an Iraqi air base, marked with a green band,
the symbol for chemical weaponry. Trace amounts of a nerve agent was found
in two spots on the ~meter long warhead. The amounts could are consistent with
leakage from a chemically armed weapon. A 13-foot missile was found next
to it.

I think Oprah asked the question as a kind of rhetorical-- like a joke thing, but Condi took it as a serious question and answered it fully. I have no problem with that. Condi and Oprah are real-life friends-- not adversaries.

It was a great move. I didn't watch it, because I virtually never watch television, but I think it was probably a real eye-opener for a lot of people who regularly watch Oprah.
And I'm really impressed to hear about the teenage girl Oprah brought on. It's sad that the girl didn't think it was "okay" to be smart, but wonderful that she found out before it was too late!

I'd say Oprah is the dimwit.

The little girl WAS the highlight of the program. It showed that with role models like Condi, there are points of light that are shining for the next generation.

Condi's future, whether it is as NFL/MLB Commissioner, Governor, VP or POTUS, will always be a source of PRIDE for the GOP, and an inspiration for EVERYONE in this country.

Condi is smart, gracious and classy. It's always a pleasure to watch her... too bad I missed her.

Black conservative pingIf you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

Since when is stating a "fact" politics? Also, the young teenage girl was correct.. Condi did make it ok to be smart. Sadly, Oprah doesn't know it yet! Oprah is stuck on "how you made it rich or famous" not on your MIND or the TRUTH! Sad.....
