David Limbaugh Gives Update On Rush
EIB Network

Posted on 10/16/2003 10:37:18 AM PDT by ventana

At approximately 1:15, Roger Hedgecock, sitting in behind the golden EIB microphone for Rush Limbaugh, interviewed Rush's brother, David. Rush, as fans know, is in rehab for an addiction to pain medication.

David spoke passionately about how completely united the Limbaugh family is around Rush at this difficult time as he makes his recovery and David stressed every family member's support. David was equally passionate about the family's gratitude for Rush's extended EIB family and the prayers, e-mails and offers of support they have provided during the last several days. He emphasized how much this support has meant to Rush, and he additionally emphasized that Rush is making solid progress.

David went on to ask that all of Rush's audience continue in their support both as listeners and individuals praying for Rush's recovery.

Following up, Hedgecock asked David about his new book, Persecution, regarding the war liberals are waging in the public square against Christians. Interestingly, the passion Limbaugh brought to this subject was a throwback to early Rush Limbaugh shows when the moral fabric of society, and the attack thereon often provided fodder for Limbaugh's discussions, spoofs, and insightful commentary. David Limbaugh clearly wished to honor his brother with his appearance and promised that more would be forthcoming in order to keep the EIB audience up to date regarding Rush Limbaugh

The biggest problem is the stigma and misunderstanding in the public about those who really do need them.

You got that right. Even the doctors have a difficult time with this issue as they have their own crosses to bear.

We/I who need these meds to try to live a somewhat normal life, learn to accept the addiction and manage it as a ever present danger, but a side effect and a cost that we must pay.

Right you are, but he was still a different case altogether. He was flesh and blood, and as a result, he had to deal with the same temptations as you and I. That he had the wisdom and will from God to shun the sins of the flesh set him apart.

Why do you think Rush owes us anything more? He admitted what he did & why he did it, anything other than that is his business.

It is how one chooses to handle those problems and complexities. The liberals tend to lie or change the law, or pretend it doesn't really matter.

Actually, it's worse. Liberals will blame YOU and turn the miscreant into a victim because YOU lacked compassion, or were intolerant, or bigoted or had some phobia. Then they will demand that YOU pay for the miscreant's pain and misfortune and pass laws so that the miscreant has more rights than YOU do. That's how liberals view personal failures.

I have always thought that when an addict went into "rehab", he was isolated, totally.

What I have a hard time envisioning is Rush in group therapy sessions. I imagine he'd either filibuster the sessions or be as quiet as a church mouse.

They're really gonna hate him when he's clean and sober.

I've posted this sentiment also. The cynics comment that the drugs Rush is addicted to do not effect what Rush does.

I agree with you - watch out when the Maha comes back!

Even more interesting will be how he handles those who have had mental setbacks, financial setbacks, alcoholism, nicotine additictioin, personal problems and so on. He's been pretty rough on those who have not lived up to his expectations of "rugged individualism". He obviously hasn't practiced what he has preached.

Really? since you feel qualified to accuse I'm assuming you are an avid listener & read both his books like me so what about:

Rush has been broke at least two times.
Now he's a multi-millionaire

Fired numerous times.
Employed for life now

Divorced twice.
Appears happily married (?)

Chain smoker.
Kicked it.

Serious overeater.
no longer food-obsessed

Addicted to painkillers.
______ what do you thinks' 'gonna happen??

True for now. Unless there is mandatory forfeiture for some reason. I doubt it, but we don't know for sure.

Fired numerous times. Employed for life now

Again we dont' know that. Most entertainers have a morals clause in their contract. It may be invoked if the problems he is now facing hurts his standing with his syndicator. My guess is for now he's safe. We don't know.

Divorced twice. Appears happily married (?)

Even you question that statement. Don't you find it the least bit ironic that his wife didn't know about his problem. Let me tell you, if I was gone overnight because of a detox program and didn't call home my wife would be on the warpath. Most would. I understand one was a quicky, the other was more intensive. Most legitiamte programs try to isolate you from all external influences while you detox. He never called home? Sounds to me like a marriage of convience instead of love and trust.

Chain smoker. Kicked it.

Still gets his nicotine fix via cigars.

Serious overeater. no longer food-obsessed

He not only has put some weight back on but has hired a chef to monitor his caloric intake. I too could be waste line controlled if I had that luxury.

Addicted to painkillers. ______ what do you thinks' 'gonna happen??

Hope and pray that he make the necessary life modifications that will allow him to live pain and pill free.

Unfortunately for conservatives, The Wizard of Rush has had the curtain pulled back and he has been exposed.

Well said...besides, I listen to his show for facts, ideas and debate. When his personal life affects his show, I may stop listening, 'til then, "he's the man" in my view.
