David Limbaugh Gives Update On Rush
EIB Network

Posted on 10/16/2003 10:37:18 AM PDT by ventana

At approximately 1:15, Roger Hedgecock, sitting in behind the golden EIB microphone for Rush Limbaugh, interviewed Rush's brother, David. Rush, as fans know, is in rehab for an addiction to pain medication.

David spoke passionately about how completely united the Limbaugh family is around Rush at this difficult time as he makes his recovery and David stressed every family member's support. David was equally passionate about the family's gratitude for Rush's extended EIB family and the prayers, e-mails and offers of support they have provided during the last several days. He emphasized how much this support has meant to Rush, and he additionally emphasized that Rush is making solid progress.

David went on to ask that all of Rush's audience continue in their support both as listeners and individuals praying for Rush's recovery.

Following up, Hedgecock asked David about his new book, Persecution, regarding the war liberals are waging in the public square against Christians. Interestingly, the passion Limbaugh brought to this subject was a throwback to early Rush Limbaugh shows when the moral fabric of society, and the attack thereon often provided fodder for Limbaugh's discussions, spoofs, and insightful commentary. David Limbaugh clearly wished to honor his brother with his appearance and promised that more would be forthcoming in order to keep the EIB audience up to date regarding Rush Limbaugh

For those Freepers who have been very hard on Rush, I thought the Wall Street Journal said it best:

"...although conservatives think that character matters in public life, we have never bought into the idea that moral credibility is predicated on moral perfection.

If moral credibility were predicated on moral perfection, even our church pulpits would be silent. I'm sure liberals would not agree, but in my view, character has as much to do with how we handle our failings as the failings themselves."

No conservative has ever held Rush to a standard of moral perfection. That is a straw man argument.

I have been a little hard on Rush in that I believe there is more explaining to do, and I feel I saw him change, well, about five years ago. But I still love Rush, owe him a great deal and am pulling for him. Rome neither was built nor fell in a day. V's wife.

I hope Rush will recover completely and be his old self again. We need him and he needs us right now to pray for him.

Glad you think so too. I've been posting it whenever I see Rush threads because I've been disturbed by the fact that some conservatives think our leaders need to be perfect.

None of us are, of course (darn it!) and the WSJ said more articulately what I feel than I ever could.

Huh?

Have you seen some of the threads on FR about Rush? There are some ugly ones.

I guess because he is a radio entertainer who has great ability to slice and dice the liberal hypocrisy, I haven't held him to nearly the same standard as I would an elected leader.

I hope you know I was not singling out any particular Freeper for a lack of support. I can't keep track of the freeper names and it's everyone's right to feel about the issue the way they do.

Thank you for the update. If anyone can beat this demon, Rush can. I can't wait until he's back, giving the liberals hell. He's got a few scores to settle now (Evan Thomas, Al Franken, etc) although knowing Rush, he probably won't sink to their level. Those idiots better enjoy kicking Rush while they can, because they've only got a few days left. If they thought Rush was a handful before, just wait...

. . the idea that moral credibility is predicated on moral perfection.

WOW! When I read that , I immediately wondered how the left could excoriate the right for not being perfect, yet they, in their ideology, reject Christ. The only one who has been morally perfect!
