I chose to put this on Breaking News because it just came on as Breaking NEWS on her website. PLEASE ,PLEASE go to the website http://www.terrisfight.org and read the letters that have just been sent to Jeb Bush in regards to the Terri Schiavo case. JEB BUSH can LEGALLY STOP THIS. CALL his office, CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES, CALL and email the media.THE CLOCK is ticking to save her life.

I'll take a swing at answering that one: Gov. Bush hasn't done anything because, despite the importunings of the lawyers that the Schindlers hired, he knows he has no such authority. Don't you think that a state governor would consult with, say, his attorney general, or with the governor's legal counsel, on something like this, rather than relying on legal briefs from people who were in the pay of one of the parties involved in the case????

On the other hand, he can count votes, and knows which side of this debate his core constituency is on, so he is making loud, public, sympathetic noises. But that's all he's going to do. That's my prediction.

I assume that he has consulted his legal staff. Gov. Bush has been aware of this case for a long time, and he has been making a show of "intervening" for several weeks -- ever since he sent that letter to the judge. The fact that he has not done anything further, despite several weeks' warning that the removal of the feeding tube was mminent, speaks volumes.

Which is just the sort of soothing, comforting words you get from an elected official when you ask them for help and there's nothing they can do for you. I doubt if we will hear from Gov. Bush until after Ms. Schiavo passes away, at which point he will put out a statement mourning her death, and regretting that there were no legal avenues left by which he could have prevented it.

call this a stupid question - but if Bush DOESN'T do something (and I mean FAST dangit!!!!) isn't HE in violation of the law and can't HE be charged with something along the line of accessory to murder?? The laws I read in the documents are clear as can be.. ALL this going on is 100% illigal. I'd love to ask him to his face what his holdup is.

My bet is that Jeb is hoping she will die quickly, even more so than her husband does. That way he will no longer be expected to take actions which he legally cant take.

AT which point his political career in Florida is DONE. FINISHED! Conservatives know BS when they see it. And, so far Jeb has not done enough to help this lady. IF he does not intervene.... there are many RIGHT to LIFE Christians who will not support him in the future when he runs for the Senate. And, he WILL need their support.

If he had legal standing to do anything, his staff and advisors would have found him an out and he would have taken it already. The only way Bush would be charged as an accessory to Murder is if the 2% Taliban Brigade took control of Florida and began rounding up thousands of suspects for their "retraining" centers.

I've read them. They are legal opinions solicited by the Schindlers. The state attorney general and the Governor's counsel most likely disagree with those opinions, and they carry a great deal more weight. Sorry. Life sucks sometimes. Your argument is with the Florida Legislature.
