[history]
October 16, 2003 -- If the perpetrators of yesterday's terrorist attack on a U.S. diplomatic convoy in Gaza thought the bombing, which took three American lives, will frighten the United States into disengaging from the Middle East, they are sadly mistaken. On the contrary: They have driven home dramatically the threat posed by unrestrained Palestinian terrorism.

You know we're winning when Hamas and Islamic Jihad are SCARED SH*TL*SS to admit they did it. Thier bosses in Syria and Iran KNOW not to screw with us directly.

I have a feeling that things are coming to a head now that the rhetoric in DC is heating up against Syria and Israel is making moves against the Palestinians and Syrians.

They have been killing Americans for quite a while. Leon Klinghoffer is the name that comes to mind, but many of the bombings in Israel have killed American citizens.

But is this the first time Americans have been the specific target, not 'collateral damage'?

a group of diplomats who had come to Gaza, which is under the control of Yasser Arafat, to meet with Palestinian candidates for Fulbright scholarships, which would allow them to study in the United States. So we give scholarships to terrorism majors? Why am I not surprised? The 9/11 gang probably took their flight lessons on hijacking scholarships.

Why is it only a really big deal when Americans are targeted? Israelis can be killed in large numbers every other day, and our usual message has been "restrain yourself, Israel, don't endanger the peace process."
Terrorism is terrorism. Israel is just another battleground in the same war that Islamists declared on us many years ago.

They've been targeted before. A lot of the restaurants and night spots that have been hit were frequented by Americans. But this was a specific target. Someone wanted to up the ante.

Someone wanted to up the ante. Some in the Middle East think that war with the West (Meaning the USA) is inevitable. So they want to get it started so they can enjoy ruling the world.
It is, they believe, their destiny.

The US administration should cancel the Fulbright scholarships and deport any Palestinian students currently in the USA under the scholarship as a first start in fighting back.

But is this the first time Americans have been the specific target, not 'collateral damage'? No, they've been targeting Americans for decades when it suits them. Don't forget our embassy in Beirut or the Marine Barracks.
American diplomats murdered by Arafat?
