OPPONENTS CAN'T BE FAULTED for trying to get the state's concealed-gun law off the books the easy way, through the actions of a friendly court. But the best way to win may be the hard way: in the democratic arena.

Yes, I think the reference to the California recall says it all. It was a shot over the bow of the OldDominantLiberalMedia. They can not get away with defining the debate and limiting access to information as easily as they used to.

Liberals sometimes get lazy, relying on the courts instead of getting their hands dirty with democracy.

Sometimes? I believe it's their prefered method.

Thats all they do since their ideas are routinely rejected at the ballot box. So they have to use pack the court with agents and rule by fiat of judicial arrogance. Furthermore, they are losing voters so they have to go after felons and illegals to pack their voting rolls.

Hallelujah! A liberal with sense. Liberalism would be a lot healthier, and even respectable once again--as it was in my youth--if more liberals were like this. Just because you disagree with a law doesn't make it unconstitutional. Conservatives forget this sometimes as well. I disagree with hate crime laws, but I think they're constitutional, and would oppose any effort to overturn them, except by the legislature or at the ballot box. That's how things are generally supposed to work in a democracy.
