Post responses on this thread. Do or die for the Marlins. Break the Curse and Go to the Series or sink into ignominy for yet another year for the Cubbies.
Which will it be? Quien es mas macho?

And the White Sox fans are now happier than if they won; a true Chicago oddity. Really?
Just wondering how do White Sox fans and Cub fans get along?
In New York Met Fans and Yankee Fans hate each other. Most Met fans are rooting for Boston right now and in 1986 in the Red Sox/Met series most Yankee fans did the same.
Does the same sort of thing go on in Chicago?

Well now, all those 20 something Cub fans will know what it's like to truly be a Cub's fan. Heartbreak is what it is all about. (I am just trying to find some positive, I really don't believe that).

I pulled this from the locked thread:

Nah, then he won't be able to vote there! ;-)

Nah, Yankee fans (like me) enjoy their titles too much.

Hey, I'm 20 and I already KNEW what it was about. It's simply been solidified.

I imagine the foul ball guy will make a buck or two off of this within a short time; interviews, articles.

Well, at least we have the Hawks, Bulls and Bears to look forward to. God living in Chicago can suck if you are sports fan.

Nah, the Yankees inspire a particular level of bile - I can only imagine what the Mets fans must go through. The Cubs & White Sox fans actually intermarry around here ;-).

The biggest choke has to be the 1951 Dodgers. On Aug. 11, they had a 13 1/2 game lead on the Giants and blew it. The Cubs in 1969 were worse. They went from about 10 up to 8 down, a swing of 18 games. The Dodgers and the Giants tied and went to a 3-game playoff. The Dodgers were up 4-1 in the 9th inning of Game 3, and lost 5-4 because of The Shot Heard Round the World (hit by Bobby Thompson, with the rookie Willie Mays on deck).
On the 50th anniversary of The Shot, the Wall Street Journal revealed that a major reason, if not THE reason, the Giants caught the Dodgers was a sophisticated sign-stealing scheme at The Polo Grounds involving coaches and the scorekeeper in deep deep center that began in August. Bobby Thompson wouldn't answer the question as to whether he knew what Ralph Branca's pitch would be when he hit The Shot (leaving me with the impression that he did).

Absolutely. The White Sox fans will be doing the can-can at work tomorrow morning.

Like I'm supposed to take anything a 'dweeb', that was "looking forward to seeing the ivy change color more", says seriously?
Go buy yourself a chameleon. That ought to keep you entertained for a couple of years.
Think about this. You want to watch ivy change colors and there are some Cub fans that want to watch 'the goatboy' turn blue from asphyxiation.
Now, really is that so different?

Underlying cause as it usually is ... pitchingDusty did what he did when he was with the Giants. In the big games, he left his pitchers in too long before giving them the hook.

I still hate the Bulls because of the Bad Boys years of the Pistons.
I'll never forget the fight between Bill Cartwright (7'0) and Isiah Thomas(6'1)....classic.

Sympathy to all Cubs fans. As a Boston Fan - the Cubs losing kinda takes the excitement out of game 7 tomorrow night. I hope we win but playing the Marlins in the series just won't generate the same national excitement. And even if we lost tonight and the Cubs won there would still be the consolation that a Yankees-Cubs series would have been just as exciting. Nothing against the Marlins- I just wanted to see two old time ball clubs play in the series.

I should've said "long suffering" Cubs and R. Sox fans. You kids really can't appreciate the power of the Myth.
