Because Judge Greer thinks he is all powerful and can get away with anything! Also the federal judges in Florida are either Clintoid appointees or are democrats and those are the ones that could have stopped this when the family appealed to them.

"They were not killing them for the cost savings but for ideological reasons particularly the "defective."

Okay, so you want to put a different spin on it, let's try this one. Suppose Terri was black or an illegal Mexican? Do you reckon that would give her "viability" a little more weight in the eyes of the court? Or let's make it even more interesting and say that Terri is black and her husband is white and girlfriend and new kids are white....do you see where I'm going here? I'm not saying that you were drawing this parallel, mind you. But it is a valid hypothetical in a modernized social context. Some people are and always have been more equal than others.

I'm worried now that the Schindler atty has not been aggressive enough.

Perhaps she didn't believe it would get this far.

But I hope she knows about this other statute too that you've turned up.

I'm totally puzzled that this has been allowed to proceed to this point, given these 2 Florida statutes.

How is this being condoned, even legally?

Because it is considered dying naturally, since about 1990 when that ruling was made by the US Supreme Court.

"I emailed Fox news and told them we are tired of Kobe and Laci all the time. I am personally very sick of it. I want more Terri."

That needed repeating...

Goodnight good people. Time is short.

I read the Smith book about three years ago. An excellent book. I've always been curious though. I read the bookjacket and the biography states that Smith has written four books with Ralph Nader. Now, I'm not one of those conservatives that tars all liberals with the same brush, but I am curious if Wesley Smith is a Naderite or Green Party member.

Don't even go there. The Schindlers fought the battle they did to save America as much as they did to save their daughter. We all owe them a tremendous debt.

And thank you dansy for joining the effort to help save Terri's life.

I continue to pray for a miracle for Terri and comfort & strength for her family.

There was much coverage of Terri's plight on O'Reilly (John Kasick subbing) and on Hannity & Combs this evening.

I also pray that Gov. Bush's legal team can find a way to intervene and get Terri the rehabitative help her husband refused to provide.

"The same has been shown when radical surgery, specifically the severing of the corpus collosum which is responsible for the transfer of information between the 2 sides of the brain, has been performed on epileptics to control grand mal seizures."

Yep. Encephelitus was the first example that crossed my mind, which isn't working any too great tonight. I have to go to bed. I MAY have a day off tomorrow from the doctors and hospitals (my daughter and grandson) but mental exhaustion is setting in and I think I'll go to bed and try to catch some sleep. I'm worn out with worry. I know how Terri's parent's feel.

I was recently very close to having to make this same decision.

My sister was dying of lung cancer.
Under the terms of her medical power of attorney I had the right to refuse to allow her to be artificially resuscitated with oxygen or food.
No matter how slim the chances for her survival, there was always a chance.
Thankfully she passed away peacefully before I had to make that decision.

I can see both sides of this issue, and, in my opinion, it's not the husband's fault for wanting to have a life.
The law is at fault for making a solution impossible.

Wesley is a self-proclaimed liberal. But we need him for this fight and I like him very much.

People came and went. The number seemed to stay the same.
The feeding tube was only removed today.
I think a lot of people did not believe that it could possibly happen, again.
floriduhvoter was there, and waiting for a FReeper from Georgia to fly in before she left.
I met Terri's sister and brother. They are gratefull for everyones prayers and any support offered.
I saw Mr and Mrs Schindler, but they were obviously exhausted, but nobody was hopeless, yet.
The lead attorney, Pat A. was there, and also a lawyer who was involved in the previous murder attempt.
This is not a scheduled event with planned speakers. There is no real "protest agenda".
People come and go.

It does no good to argue with this poster. They seem to have an agenda to poison the minds of Terri supporters. Trying to make others believe that Terri is "brain dead". They are not reading the posts here!! They are just posting blindly to further their own views on this subject!!

Julie, do you happen to recall the name of the "doctor" on that show with Kasich? (MarMema needs it.)

I am starting to get very scared and very angry.

My husband and I have disabled children and plan to move out of this country permanently in the next 4-5 years unless we see a radicaL shift....but it keeps going in the direction of killing instead.

Have been researching which countries will take us. It is not so easy! We wanted Czech Republic and it looks like an impossible dream. Now we are looking at Greece.

It is hard to win against a Judge that is a (fill in the blank). Also when you have federal judges that they appealled to that don't even think or look at the case objectively. You have to put the blame on these people 1) Michael Shitavo 2) George Felos 3) Judge George Greer 4) Satan!
