Rush Limbaugh got 45,000 emails of support.
This is an older letter; but I think it is time to 'shut down' some emails and servers. Obviously, our calls, emails, and faxes have been ignored.
Dear Representative:
In November 2002, Judge Greer of Pinellas County once again sentenced Theresa Schiavo (Terri) to die of starvation based on his opinion that Terri is in a persistent vegetative state (or PVS). On June 6, Judges Altenbernd, Fulmer and Stringer issued a decision upholding Judge Greers starvation ruling.
Under Florida law, for Terri to be sentenced to death by starvation, a PVS condition must be in existence. In Florida, PVS is defined by statute as a "permanent and irreversible condition of unconsciousness in which there is the absence of voluntary action or cognitive behavior of any kind [and] an inability to communicate or interact purposefully with the environment."
Clearly, the evidence Judge Greer relied on to make his death decision does not comply with Florida Law. Furthermore, there are more physicians on record with the court stating that Terri is not in a PVS condition than are physicians stating that Terri is in a PVS condition.
More evidence contradicting Greers findings can be found in a sworn statement given by a noted speech pathologist declaring that Terri is definitely not in a persistent vegetative state and that she is trying to talk.
If that were not enough, there are video tapes of Terri (at terrisfight.org) showing her responding to her family members and to commands given her by three doctors who examined her just prior to Judge Greers latest death verdict.
THE VIDEO TAPES ARE PRESENTLY APPEARING ON NATIONAL TELEVISION. THEY ARE EVOKING OUTRAGE AMONG VIEWERS BECAUSE TERRIS COGNIZANT CONDITION IS SO OBVIOUS
These citizens, dominated by a majority of Floridians, have made their feelings known by signing upwards to 19,000 petitions denouncing Judge Greers starvation death order. They are indignant because they recognize that Terri Schiavo is in a disabled state, not in a PVS state. They are angry that the law of our state has been blatantly dismissed by a biased judge.
I would respectfully ask for your commitment on behalf of Ms. Schiavo. Please share this information with the Governor and beseech his immediate intervention, either instructing the Attorney General to assign the case to an unbiased judge or by ordering an investigation into the injuries suffered by Terri as possible foul play. Evidence suggests that physical abuse may have caused Terris present disability.
As a public servant of the great State of Florida, it is your duty to protect our citizens to the fullest extent of your abilities. I eagerly await your response.
Let's add on their pop up window too:
October 15, 2003 is the day the courts have ordered the withholding of nutrition and hydration from Terri Schiavo. It is also the Feast of St. Teresa - Terri's name-sake.
In a desperate effort to get the attention of someone who could stop this court-sanctioned death, the Schindler family has released a video of Terri that they took some 24 months ago, showing Terri laughing with her mother.
Because of this, Mr. Schiavo's attorneys have ordered that Terri may no longer have visitors. Not even her mother and father are allowed to see her or to even say goodbye to her.

This is wrong. He should have been given a divorce to be with his new lady...Ah, but there's the crux of the matter. You see, there's apparently a great deal of money involved from a settlement so he really doesn't want a divorce at all.
To: Gophack
How in the world can the judge order the doctor's not to try and feed her through her mouth? If she can eat and swallow, shouldn't she be at least offered the chance??????
IIRC, the expert witnesses testified that mouth-feeding Terry will lead to her either choking to death or developing a fatal infection in her respiratory tracts

I read that on World Net Daily. They have an article up today that details everything that's happened in this case.

Several lesser-discussed facets include the description of Terri Schiavo's present condition. Technically, she is NOT in a coma. She is severely impaired, apparently from brain damage, but she is much more alert than the typical coma patient. She is breathing on her own, which indicates some significant brain-stem activity, and in fact the physical injuries may be far less traumatic than those suffered by Christopher Reeve.
Is there a personality in there? By some reports, she does respond to outside conversations, and seems to make some voluntary movement in response to the acts of others. Does she understand what is going on around her? This is a matter of conjecture for most of us, as no qualified medical persons have made any acknowledged report on her condition. There may be reports, but the contents have not been divulged.
Dog in the manger. That is Michael Schiavo. He can't be looking good at this point.
After all, a man got needs, and by what right does some VEGETABLE control his every activity?
He COULD surrender custody back to Terri's parents....
To: TexasCajun
She collapsed of a "heart attack," perhaps. She had broken bones that were said to resemble the effect of a strangulation.

How many of us would be dead without medical intervention?. Have you had vaccinations, antibiotics, surgeries, tonsils out etc, etc?, What about all the people with poor eyesight?
Glasses could be considered a medical intervention!

Well, they obviously know, don't they? So rather not even trying, they're just going to let her starve.
I don't support removing the feeding tube because obviously she has had some cognitive responses, is not comatose, and is not brain dead.
It is not up to us to judge the quality of life for another human being. She may never be "normal" again, but she IS alive and should not be killed.
Mind you, this has been going on for 13 years. Her husband has been trying to kill her for 13 years. He tried denying antibiotics when she had an infection, but the doctors said that would kill her and they gave them to her anyway.

"She would be long dead without medical intervention."
As would about half the people on this board, probably.

That is what I have been wondering. Where are all those people who stand outside prisons wailing over executions being carried out. Why is no one outside this place making noise. Or are they and it is just not being reported or I missed it?

From what they can tell oxygen deprivation. They have suspected for years that she was being choked and subsequently had a heart attack as a result.
She was found on the floor of her kitchen unconscious where her "husband" left her to die.
He then went to court to get as much money as he could claiming he needed it for her long term care. Once he got the money he started fighting to starve her to death.

No, I meant it for TexasCajun.

Haven't kept up with this story. All the major media says she's comatose. Is this not so?
To: katnip
is he a beneficiary of an insurance policy? why didn't he divorce her?
i haven't been keeping up with this situation. there seem to be so many issues involved nevertheless, her husband seems a bit unscrupulous.
is there brain activity and if her parents were willing to care for her why weren't they allowed to take her home (and set up hospital equipment in the house).
To: Gophack; Calpernia
We all must pray for Terri to have the will to fight and eat. She may have the will, but if she is sedated, and surrounded only by people whose goal is for her to die, then she has no chance to eat on her own.
Calpernia, someone may have answered you, but no, her parents have been banned from being near her now. Have you ever heard of such evil in this country?

Becky,
They are there and have been around the clock
for a few days. The group includes Joni Earickson
