[history]
Somewhere in a parallel universe, where we are the same people but things have happened in slightly differently ways, Rush Limbaugh greets his loyal listeners this morning.
"Lots to talk about today. You all know already that Bill Clinton, our former president, has admitted an addiction to prescription drugs.

Why supply a link to a Zotted thread? Simple
(1) There is applicable commentary to this article on that thread.
2) Zotted threads have as informative commentary and refutation of the article premise as any other kind.

Me, too. That's why I posted it. Sorry it's a re-post.

Well, the story is on Page 2, and right next to his photograph, in large boldface print, is the following quote: 'I take full responsibility for this problem.' LOL....earth to Bill Clellan, come in Bill. Clinton saying he takes full responsiblity???? Now that is a good one.
To: annyokie
Athlete who admitted to a drug problem and treated like a hero?
Lyle Alzado.
Micheal Irvin.
Brett Favre.
Lawrence Taylor.
Yes, Daryl Strawberry.
Many, many others who 'violated the league's substance abuse policy'.

It's not bad.
Parts of it sound like Rush, but some of it doesn't at all.

I hate to admit this, but the guy does make a point. It reads just like Rush sounds. I could actually hear Rush's voice in my mind as I read it. Shhhhhhh!
The ditto heads will excommunicate your ass!

Good grief! Isn't the horse dead yet?! One would think Rush had commited murder judging from the number of threads devoted to his misfortune.
But,go ahead--keep beating that horse...into the ground.

This is the part that really stings...
"I know what liberals are going to say: 'This is a time for compassion.' Let me be very clear about this, folks. I have compassion. But my compassion is for all the people who believed in the guy. He was their shining star. He could do no wrong. But you know something? I probably don't have to worry. Because his followers are going to still believe in him. That's the thing about liberals! You can't convince them! You can show them the facts. You can say, 'Look, here is what he really said, and here is what he really did,' but they don't want to know the truth. That's the big difference between them and us. Liberals are afraid of the truth."
...because you and I both know that sounds just like vintage Rush, straight from the Golden Microphone at EIB.
I like Rush. I love listening to him when he is at the top of his form. But I will admit that I am very disappointed in him.
I am not going to castigate him. Lord knows I have my own problems. But this cleverly written article should be both a kick in the nuts and a wake up call to Conservatives. We really do need to keep our own house in order.

Good grief! Isn't the horse dead yet?! One would think Rush had commited murder judging from the number of threads devoted to his misfortune. LOL. It's getting pretty old, isn't it? The only reason I clicked on this thread was because I already checked out the other news and ran out of things to read.

This article suggests that what Rush said and what Clinton (in some perpendicular universe) might have said are the same. The same words perhaps, but they would not be interpreted the same way.
There is a big difference between Rush's announcement, and the hypothetical Clinton one. Both get (or would get) run through and spun by the LIBERAL MEDIA.
Therefore, even though both said (hypothetically) the same thing, by the time they get through the "media filter," the words they used would be accorded quite different meanings.
In other words, if Bill Clinton ever said (I know this is hard to imagine) that he "was not a hero," he would be saying that knowing full well that the LIBERAL MEDIA would turn that around and treat him as a hero.
But when Rush said that, he knew the LIBERAL MEDIA would turn that around into a reason to attack him, as the author of this article has just done.
Rush did not say what he said for the benefit of the LIBERAL MEDIA. He knew he had once chance to communicate directly to his fan base. And he knew that they would take him at his word.

Aren't we taking this article too seriously? I thought it was a clever satire of Rush Limbaugh. Not even that mean-spirited.
To: concerned about politics
It's not hard to run out of things to read if one is trying to overlook all the Rush threads!
I finally just had to vent my frustration. Sorry, it's usually not my style. :-)

Your points are good. I agree with them.

Trying to make them face the truth just enrages them all the more.
They know perfectly well that Rush would have savagely and sarcastically attacked any major Clinton player with a drug problem.
