This is the part that really stings...

"I know what liberals are going to say: 'This is a time for compassion.' Let me be very clear about this, folks. I have compassion. But my compassion is for all the people who believed in the guy. He was their shining star. He could do no wrong. But you know something? I probably don't have to worry. Because his followers are going to still believe in him. That's the thing about liberals! You can't convince them! You can show them the facts. You can say, 'Look, here is what he really said, and here is what he really did,' but they don't want to know the truth. That's the big difference between them and us. Liberals are afraid of the truth."

...because you and I both know that sounds just like vintage Rush, straight from the Golden Microphone at EIB.

I like Rush. I love listening to him when he is at the top of his form. But I will admit that I am very disappointed in him.

I am not going to castigate him. Lord knows I have my own problems. But this cleverly written article should be both a kick in the nuts and a wake up call to Conservatives. We really do need to keep our own house in order.

This article suggests that what Rush said and what Clinton (in some perpendicular universe) might have said are the same. The same words perhaps, but they would not be interpreted the same way.

There is a big difference between Rush's announcement, and the hypothetical Clinton one. Both get (or would get) run through and spun by the LIBERAL MEDIA.

Therefore, even though both said (hypothetically) the same thing, by the time they get through the "media filter," the words they used would be accorded quite different meanings.

In other words, if Bill Clinton ever said (I know this is hard to imagine) that he "was not a hero," he would be saying that knowing full well that the LIBERAL MEDIA would turn that around and treat him as a hero.

But when Rush said that, he knew the LIBERAL MEDIA would turn that around into a reason to attack him, as the author of this article has just done.

Rush did not say what he said for the benefit of the LIBERAL MEDIA. He knew he had once chance to communicate directly to his fan base. And he knew that they would take him at his word.
