For all the admiration people have for John Breaux as a "moderate" and a "pragmatist", he is still a partisan Democrat who is willing to support a lightweight for Governor in place of a bright look-to-the-future candidate. It galls me how, according to this article, a cynical Breaux is trying to belittle Bobby Jindal's role in the Medicare reform commission; fortunately, Jindal's campaign produced that 1999 letter that tells a quite different story. Can the senior Senator from Louisiana heap such praise upon Kathleen Blanco?

Subtle as it is, this is still mud-slinging.

I'm waiting for people to tell me how conservative Senator Breaux is. I'm glad he's not running again.

He said the position needs to be earned.

Not so subtle. Louisiana politics are as dirty as they come.

"...the Democratic Party "strives to be the party of all the people. Comments that seek to divide us along ethnic lines, instead of focusing on the real issues of this campaign, are repugnant to the ideals of this party."

How can that be said with a straight face after the Xlintons, 2000 election, Kalifornia recall, etc.? What kind of peyote is this guy on, anyway? Obviously one that creates a heckuva neat alternate reality.

john breaux is a "sissy sub boy" that loves to be spanked by hillary klintoon and mary landrieu and ted kennedy....if any one in a reasonable state of awareness thinks john breaux is anything but a career politician..they need to start buying their "shine" from another distiller.

If John Breaux had any integrity, he would have voted to convict Clinton and he wouldn't have campaigned for Landrieu. Whether he's moderate or not, he's not someone who deserves to be in office.

John Breaux likes to call himself a pro-life "conservative" Democrat, but he campaigned for Mary Landrieu, a pro-abortion liberal who has voted to filibuster Bush's judicial nominees. He also campaigned for Al Gore, who pledged to only appoint judges who have passed his pro-abortion litmus test. It's about time the Louisiana Republican Party quit kissing Breaux's ass and came out against him with both barrels blasting.
