He said the position needs to be earned. Not so subtle. Louisiana politics are as dirty as they come.

I certainly agree on the dirty politics we have in Louisiana. My opinion on Breaux's subtlety is that, by saying that Bobby Jindal's role in the Medicare commission was merely to do what he was told to do, he is implying that Jindal is a yes-man (Mike Foster's puppet, perhaps?) who has no leadership qualities and no mind of his own. Of course, Breaux will not say that outright. Yet, how can he even imply that, considering Jindal has occupied positions on both the federal and state levels where leadership and decision-making are critical job requirements? Certainly, Breaux cannot say with a straight face that Jindal did poorly at the helm of the state Department of Health & Hospitals and the University of Louisiana System (two large, complex government entities, mind you).
Breaux's "justification" for endorsing Blanco just goes to show you, in the end, what little regard he has for Louisiana's best interests.

Good grief! I wish Breaux truly believed that about his own Senate seat. If Blanco wins the Governor contest, Breaux will retire from the Senate. As soon as Blanco is sworned in as LA Governor, she will upon Breaux's command appoint Rep. Chris John to his Senate seat. A Tom Daschle power grab is coming to the Bayou State.
