Imus: 'Pill-Popping Loser' Rush Is Going to Prison

Radio host Don Imus is lashing out at rival Rush Limbaugh "even though," the New York Post pointed out today, "Imus himself was off the air several times during the 1970s and '80s because of cocaine and alcohol addiction."

"Rush is a fat, pill-popping loser and an undisciplined slob who was turning his maid into a drug pusher, and she's the one who's gonna go to prison, and - as soon as he gets caught - he starts whining," Imus said Monday on WFAN in New York.

"He's going to rehab because he can't get any more pills, and he's gonna go to prison," Imus said.

"Suck it up, fatso, and stop taking 100 pills a day or whatever ... and employ some discipline in your life," Imus said.

"Suck it up, fatso,

What does this have to do with the issue?

Imus, like Stern, confuses talking with passing wind through a microphone. I am not even sure with what part of his body he makes that wind.

Excuse me...but I don't see a word about hypocrisy out of the mouth of Imus in his diatribe. I see an attack on someone going through a tough time. This exclamation had nothing to do with the WOD.

I heard Imus the same way you did. I had begun to wonder if I was imagining what I heard him say.

Someone should seriously question Imus about his New Mexico ranch for kids with cancer. Although certainly a noble cause, it has cost tens of millions of dollars in donations, and seems to be utilized by a very small number of ailing children during the summer months while Imus and his family seem to benefit from it year round.

Imus -- a recovering addict -- is behaving in absolutely the exact opposite way he should behave.

Amen to that! I live in Philly, and used to listen to Imus. (It was either that or stern.) Thankfully, the only talk station in town kicked him off a few months ago. He's still on, but it's such a weak station that I can get more listeners by rolling down my car window and yelling.

I watched his show this morning and all this rough talk about Rush was very much in the context of what Imus himself has gone through. And this is his style.... Imus is not about flowery feel-good language about the heroism of hard fights.

Oh, okay. If this is out of context, I get it. Maybe Imus isn't so wrong for smacking Rush a little. L-rd knows he's gonna get much worse in Rehab, and it will all be for his own good.

and she's the one who's gonna go to prison,

She's the one who brought this issue to light.

Had she not sold her story she wouldn't be going to jail.

Imus? I thought he was already dead and been replaced with some wrinkled old woman in a hat...THAT'S Imus?!!

I thought it was Bella Abzug after Slimfast...

"THIS is what Rush needs to hear," he said, "this is what Rush is hearing in his rehab program... "

It is the wake up call, and Imus said the last thing he needs is coddling so he "FEELS" better. He said "Sounds harsh, but that is what it takes".

Carl, I love ya like a brother, but if you take stuff out of context like this I will have to start questioning your reporting.

Thanks... selective quotes from "shock jocks" lose all context in print.

Is she going to jail? I hadn't heard that. That would be a miscarriage of justice.

If Rush illegally purchased drugs, then he deserves the same punishment he has advocated for other people who've done so.

No, actually he should suffer the same consequences that others of his status (but not his caliber) have suffered: rehab. Oh waitaminnit, he did that voluntarily. Downey had to be convicted before he went, and I don't think he was taking whatever he took for "the pain," unless it was the pain of less than stellar appearances on Ally McBeal.

Did Imus ever go to prison? Hmmmm, don't think so.

And the "100 pills a day?" A doctor called in locally and stated that this would be "incompatible with human life." But hey, if Imus wanted to prove him wrong....

I don't know that she is going to jail but she should receive the same punishment as any other drug pusher. She also audio-taped Rush's conversations without his permission which is punishable by law.

Where's the miscarriage of justice?

Yeah - I know what you mean... Imus is a crusty bugger, but I like to listen to him.... He is like the crusty opinionated uncle that rants, calls everyone a fat loser, always a little harsher perhaps than the situation calls for.... you know.... Kinda like FReepers. ;~D

I was curious to hear his take on the Rush situation precisely because he is so vocal about his own addiction and recovery. I heard what I expected to hear from the character that he is.... Knowledgeable about the wall Rush is about to hit and has his own style for telling people to buck up. That is what this was.... Not condescension at all....
