Less than a month after kicking off his campaign in South Florida, Democratic presidential hopeful Wesley Clark was back Monday -- an indication that the Sunshine State is wide open since favorite son Bob Graham abandoned the presidential race.
Clark's stop at the Rascal House delicatessen in Sunny Isles Beach was even more telling because of the political support he is picking up. U.S. Rep. Peter Deutsch, D-Fort Lauderdale, a bevy of Miami-Dade officials and many Democratic leaders attended the event.

Somehow I get the feeling that this Clark "supporter" actually work$ for the Weasley Clark campaign. This whole event seems to be a STAGED event.

No Way! Not Wastely Clark. He wouldn't stage events any more than Hatred-Powered Howard would pay people to blog for him.

I've been to the Rascal House. It used to be the hip place to eat but in recent years it is populated mainly by annoying old-timers (although it is still a great place to eat). I almost feel sorry for Weasely because here is probably what he was hearing when talking to the Rascal House clientele (photo) there:

"The pickles and the poppyseed rolls are are like to die for although I don't think they use enough poppyseeds and they need to bake the rolls a little more. Anyway, my daughter-in-law, Frida, was kvetching the other day about not getting her soup right away. I told my son, Myron, that he was marrying a kvetcher but do you think he listens to his mother? Uh, what did you say you are running for? Blah...blah...blah..."

The Rascal House in Boca is AWFUL, although the egg Creams are pretty good. Never made it to the one in Sunny Isles.
Your caption, btw, is dead on. That's the typical conversation you hear at TooJay's in Boca as well. Oy, Gevalt! :-)

Yeah, I've been there. That's the Rascal House on Glades Road. They tried to be upscale and the result is a disaster. I took a Chinese woman to it once to impress on her how great American food can be but she was LESS than impressed. Oddly enough, if you go down Glades Road to Florida Atlantic University you can eat EXCELLENT food there at the cafeteria at very low prices ($4.99 for a complete lunch). The strip steak at FAU is much better than the pricier items down the road at the Boca Rascal House, but the damn students don't even appreciate how great the food is in their cafeteria. They have a bulletin board next to the FAU cafeteria where you can post your comments on the cafeteria and here is a typical one: "The food was OK but the presentation was off. I felt the color balance of the side dishes could be better."
That is a typical commentary (and there were others like it) by a spoiled student so I posted my own note on the bulletin board next to hers with an arrow pointing at her note that said: "Don't listen to this idiot! The food is great and she is bitching about color balance on the side orders? Gimme a break!"
Check out the Sunny Isles Rascal House sometime. The food is great but the clientele are incredibly annoying. If you go there, I swear you will see that the "conversation" that I imagined the woman was having with Weasely Clark was VERY TYPICAL of what you hear there. This would probably make for a great comedy skit. Weasely wants to do his pitch with the voters but they are off on some sort of unrelated and annoying tangent and won't shut up.

Wesley just hasn't gotten it yet. Now that he's helped Bill, Hill and Terri side-track the Howard Dean machine, he's outlived his usefulness. Even his Clintonista campaign staff is deserting him in droves.

The one in Sunny Isles is the old one. I lived one block away for a bit in high school. Luv that place.

Now that he's helped Bill, Hill and Terri side-track the Howard Dean machine, he's outlived his usefulness. Not really for the simple fact that he has NOT side-tracked the Howard Dean machine. The latest Newsweek poll is bogus. It reflects the fact that FEW voters even know who the hell is running so they say they are supporting the most recent candidate in the news (Weasely Clark). The fact is in the important early primary states where the voters ARE paying attention to who is running, Howard Dean leads Kerry by about 10 points with Weasely far back at #5.
BTW, I am praying that most of the Demmycrat candidates stay in the race at least thru the Florida primary. Why? Because the condo voters will put them thru HELL. They fully expected their tuchuses to be kissed by the candidates. This will also be the LAST election where those old condo voters even matter since the surprising fact is that close to half of the condo elderly residents are now Hispanic and with demographic trends they will represent over 75% of the condo residents in the 2008 election. So enjoy the hilarious spectacle of the candidates pandering to the condo folks since it will be the last time you will see this happen.

I used to work at the Thunderbird and the Colonial Inn when I was in high school. It was a colorful time. One day I will write about it. BTW, the Thunderbird (and to a lesser extent the Colonial Inn) were both mobbed up hotels. They were tight with the mob. Often we had mobsters staying in a special room registered as "Frank Smith."

Hah! I lived in a penthouse in Winston Towers in the mid-80's. God we had a blast down there back in the day. At the Rascal House? Are you kidding? I like the food there but I have to ignore all the annoying conversations. The heyday of the Rascal House when it was a hip place to be was back in the 50s and 60s according to all the pics there. Apparently even the Beatles ate at the Rascal House.
