RED SOX/YANKEES GAME 4 ALCS BASEBALL - Red Sox Win 3-2
Me

Posted on 10/13/2003 4:37:01 PM PDT by mikemc282002

Ok, rain's gone away and it's a beautiful fall evening here in Boston. I've never post anything on FR, so I apoligize in advance if I'm doing it wrong. I don't know anything about pinging or anything like that. Hope the usual suspects find this.

I hope we can move the discussion back to baseball. I'm so tired of Pedro, Manny, Zim, Garcia and the bullpen guy. I think the players have at least temporarily put all incidents aside and will return to playing the game without the extra theatrics.

With that in mind, let me say this: the idea that all Sox fans are English soccer hooligans is as false as saying all conversatives are racists. Most Red Sox fans are extremely passionate about baseball and most of us have Yankee fans as friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even spouses. The media potrayals I've seen in some cases have grossly exaggerated the truth about Boston fans. Yes, we want to win - just ONE DAMN TIME before we all die. Yes, there are a few jerks who get out of hand. But that can be found at Yankee stadium, Wrigley Field, or just about any professional sports event (except Expos games, let's face it no one is even there to fight). At the end of the day, whether the Sox are in the playoffs or 25 games out, it's all about cracking a beer, having a hotdog and enjoying life.

Play ball!

I love baseball. The reason I love baseball:

Loved Palmer and Orioles in the 70's

Moved to NY in the 80's and followed the Mets (how 'bout those Mets)

Moved to Atlanta in 1990. What a run we've had!

The constant, I hate the Yankees. Always have, always will.
oh, and Jim still makes this old girl's heart go pitter patter

The Sox (namely Pedro) revived The Curse on Saturday.

As a New Yorker, I was pulling for the Sox in '86 against the Amazins' - so it's not bias - I just call 'em as I see 'em.

I really like Gary Carter. Worked with his and Tim Raines' kids at Lake worth Christian school in Lake Worth during that time. Those guys were outstanding family men, and ballplayers. Strawman was on the team and Gooden, too. Those were some fun years.

Shhhh... don't mention The Curse - I sacrificed a goat last night for today's game, and I don't want the magic wasted...

Zimmer is ready for game 4.

Insert one suppository into the rectum up to 4 times daily, especially at night, in the morning or after each bowel movement.

He is now...lol

Billy Martin ended his playing career beating a pitcher up on the mound. Great photo of the event.

The man Cobb beat up was a cripple, which made it all the more icky.

Marcihal-Roseboro kept Juan from the Hall for decades.

That's just freaky. In those days, a tie game with the Yanks in the fourth was a four run deficit.

The Sox (namely Pedro) revived The Curse on Saturday.

They'll have to think of a new name for it. Curse of the Zim-Bean-o, maybe? That includes the Pedro pitch and the Zim charge (Zim being a former Red Sox coach).

Nice introductory post.

One damn time before we die. It's not asking much.

Yes, let's play ball. I like our chances.

Go Red Sox.

Cal Schraldi. The punk Clemens bailed out in the College World Series. Clemens was furious and got up on his own to warm up during Cal's breakdown.

I have a personal dislike for Cal since high school. Didn't like his dad, either.

Oh, if you Sox fans only knew what a lazy moron Cal was. Did you know he roomed with one of the batters he faced in AA with the Mets? Told him how he'd pitch him, then promptly threw the pitches?

I'll never forget Mike Torrez's reaction after the game "Now I'm off the *&*(^*&^ hook."

NO, it was the right goat - just hope the neighbors don't notice he's missing before it's over, or the negative vibes could cancel out the Magical Power of The Bloody Goat Head that I have invoked...
