RED SOX/YANKEES GAME 4 ALCS BASEBALL - Red Sox Win 3-2

Ok, rain's gone away and it's a beautiful fall evening here in Boston. I've never post anything on FR, so I apoligize in advance if I'm doing it wrong. I don't know anything about pinging or anything like that. Hope the usual suspects find this.
I hope we can move the discussion back to baseball. I'm so tired of Pedro, Manny, Zim, Garcia and the bullpen guy. I think the players have at least temporarily put all incidents aside and will return to playing the game without the extra theatrics.
With that in mind, let me say this: the idea that all Sox fans are English soccer hooligans is as false as saying all conversatives are racists. Most Red Sox fans are extremely passionate about baseball and most of us have Yankee fans as friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even spouses. The media potrayals I've seen in some cases have grossly exaggerated the truth about Boston fans. Yes, we want to win - just ONE DAMN TIME before we all die. Yes, there are a few jerks who get out of hand. But that can be found at Yankee stadium, Wrigley Field, or just about any professional sports event (except Expos games, let's face it no one is even there to fight). At the end of the day, whether the Sox are in the playoffs or 25 games out, it's all about cracking a beer, having a hotdog and enjoying life.
Play ball!

The Red Sox never had much speed. It's a product of playing in a small park. And what about the other ½ of time when they play on the road?

It's a product of playing in a small park. Seems to me that speed would help you in a small park. Especially with how shallow they play left field. A speedy runner on third could score on a hard single to left, or on a sac fly to left.

Although Chick Hearn (RIP) is close. I used to like Johnny Most, radio guy for the Celtics. He had a voice that sounded like he was gargling tobacco, but he made some memorable calls too.

Scully's great. I enjoy watching Dodgers games just to hear him. Of course, he's the man who called:
"A little roller up along first...BEHIND THE BAG!!! It get's through Buckner!!! Here comes Knight and the Mets win it!!!"

Oh, man. Did you forget Mel Allen?
Of course, you could always dig up Diz and Pewee, and let 'em argue about whether it was possible to steal first base.

Most was great, but was too much of a homer for me to put him in the top echelon of announcers. If you listen to Scully or Hearn, you'd have a difficult time determining who they work for.
To: Chad Fairbanks
If hitting a knuckleball is anything like hitting a ball off anti-spin rubber in table-tennis, I can well understand how frustrating it can be. It really throws your whole rhythm and swing off. It takes time to get used to it. And heaven help you if the guy has spinny rubber on the other side of his racket, just to REALLY mess you up.

I think the theory is why risk baserunners stealing bases, when the next guy up could jack one out at any time.
