We can't blame Rush's problem on liberals.

We aren't Hillary Clinton, this is no LWC.

That liberals may be pleased, oh well, that's human nature. Not pretty for sure, but unfortunately there have been times when ill has befallen liberals and threads on FR reflected glee or tried to spin it as the liberals way of getting sympathy in order to be reelected.

I wish Rush the best. I hope he beats this addiction. But the problem lies on his shoulders alone, no matter how others react to it.

"Hmmm....toss around the accusation of someone being a liberal who refuses to suck up to your hero. That's rich. Can't take the criticism of an icon?"

Obviously you are one of the retartds produced by the liberal media. This is my quote, from #14, just 4 postings above yours:

"Hero? Hardly. I do not hold any of the conservative leaders up as "heroes".

If you're too lazy (like a liberal) or unable to read (like a liberal) or too retarded (like a liberal) or too stupid (like a liberal) to read all of my posts, there are government programs available to help you.

I don't have time at this moment to reply to all you wrote, but in certain sections you parsed words. I get to those later. But as to a paragon of virtue, he has used those words. Can I prove it? No, they don't transcript his show and he and his syndicator have shut down anyone who has tried. Yet he's said it. He also has said that your wife and daughter would be safe alone with him, an implied use of the phrase.

" He has frequently proclaimed himself to an excellent role model for the 'yout' of America. Some role model."

If anyone holds anyone other than their parents up as a "role model" they deserve whatever results occur, IMHO.

Well don't sweat it. Maybe everyone will get their wish and he'll retire and the show will go away. That way, we can bring in some real paragons of virtue. You know, like the Catholic Bishops or Cardinals to do a conservative talk show.

Rush could have requested a morphine pump if the pain was that severe. And I understand severe pain. I live with it 24/7, but within doc prescribed Rx. And have stayed on that program for years. And that is after back surgery

Sounds exactly like my sister's case. She has to take pain medication to maintain any kind of life style at all.

Now, is she addicted? I would say yes.

But, all that aside, what is Rush going to do for his pain AFTER he had been through the recovery program...or will the pain just go away?

Rush may have had some pills, but he never swallowed them.

Rush will recover from this demon, but Clinton will ALWAYS be an impeached President and rapist & Teddy K. will ALWAYS be a drunk who killed a woman.

remember the song on 'Hee Haw' that Buck Owens and Roy Clark use to sing each week? (see below)

"Gloom, despair and agony on me Deep, dark depression; excessive misery If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all Gloom, despair and agony on me."

Wouldn't it make a good theme song for the demos for their coming convention and the election.

"The National Democratic Theme Song"..........lets all sing together as we move forward into the coming 2004 election.

LOL.......just kidding around.

"We're no better than the leftists we oppose if we get so caught up in the cult of personality that we can't even admit when one of our heroes makes a mistake. Spinning it just makes us look as ridiculous as the leftists. I wish Rush the best and hope he comes back with as strong a message as ever, but I'll be damned if I'm going to start mincing words and arguing over the definition of "drugs" vs. "prescription drugs". Rush messed up and made some hypocritical comments - the end."

Really well stated. To those who want to defend Rush by hailing his accusers as RINOs and traitors, think of how frustrated you felt when Clinton wasn't held to a moral standard by his fellow dems during his time of moral failure. It scares me to think how similarly vacuous we may be when it is our ox getting gored.

I was just responding to your request for an instance where Rush has said 'live your life like I lived mine.' Isn't that what a role model is?

It seems to be a basic lesson of life but I am always amazed when some of the most sophisticated people ignore it. That lesson is:Elevating individuals above others always has its pitfalls. People are not all good or all bad. They are dynamic creatures with talents and flaws. Basing your faith on the preacher is not a good thing. Life is a difficult journey and I haven't seen anyone get through it without getting lost occasionally. Some people are habitually lost while others seen to stray and find themselves lost and make corrections that prevent them form leaving the path too far again. I try to do the later. Rush has been an inspiration, thought provoking, and of course arrogant and insensitive at times but he's one of us just trying to make it through life. I wish him well and will keep him and his wife in my prayers.

I fully expect conservatives to be harder on Rush than liberals, and I expect Rush to be harder on himself than conservatives. Either way, conservatives win the war of ideas hands down.

If the circumstances were identical, I would feel sad for Alan. However the liberals would not pile on their own. That is the difference. They pile on them for political reasons, not moral or personal

That may be true for you but IMHO opinion most on this site would be all over Alan

You are right the liberals don't pile on their own .
They have no standards.
They keep voting for scum like Kennedy and Clinton etc etc etc

To some, maybe. But I don't believe in role models. I think people who have to use and hold others in high esteem have no self-esteem and are weak. And by using others as a role model for children is even more pathetic.

We don't have room to talk. Remember Packwood and Nixon?

"They won't cut him any slack because he's spoken out against use of illegal drugs. Sorry guys, there is no comparison. The people using illegal drugs do it for the high."

Nice try, but this doesn't get Rush off the hook. Just read the emails he wrote published in the tabloid: "Going out with a bang." Rush clearly enjoyed the fun effect that OxyContin gave him.

The Drug War laws put Rush at significant legal jeopardy. My question is does this make sense? What is the crime involved?

Rush demands that other drug criminals get arrested, tried, convicted and go to jail. If he really believed in the War on Drugs, he would demand to be charged, plead guilty and demand the longest prison term. What does he do instead, he hires the highest priced and savviest Miami Defense Lawyer out there and is obviously trying some way to AVOID legal jeopardy. There are hundreds of thousands of fellow Americans, who've had their lives destroyed by the drug laws, why is Rush trying to get off?
